"We thoroughly enjoyed staying in a castle. Staff were very friendly and professional . There was a selection of two menus for dinner. The more casual menu had steak and ale pie which was exceptional and a generous portion size. The hotel is conveniently located to visit Hadrian's Wall and the Roman History Museum. It is also not far from Hexham Abbey. It is a rare experience to visit a 7th century church. Don’t forget to take the tour of the castle offered daily to guests. If you are looking for a unique experience this is the place!"

"Set in the grounds of a golf course, the room, part of the Courtyard area, was exceptional. Set on 3 levels, the bedroom was on the top level with wall mounted TV, then a seating area below that and a second TV, and the bathroom below that. The only negative for us was the heavy quilt, which was too hot, and the soft pillows, offering little support. Breakfast was excellent. It was ordered from the menu. However, a buffet offering fresh fruit, pastries and cereal would be a useful addition. We would definitely return here again as a stopover. For anyone on a golfing holiday, it's perfect."

"Fantastic night stay on our travels. Swimming pool / spa was lovely, our son had a fab time and we had pockets of relaxing in the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi! Room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Breakfast was great and all staff were friendly and helpful. Gutted we do not live closer but will be back whenever we are in the area next! Wished we had known about the activity centre onsite before our stay - alloutadventures.co.uk as we may have booked our son for the quad biking. My only negative point is the cocktails are not made fresh but out of a bottle! "

"We had a fun evening in the pub, good food, and nice people. Our room was clean, comfortable, and perfectly sound proofed. We overlooked the parking lot but couldn’t hear people, cars, or dogs, even though we could see them. Great location for exploring Hadrians wall when you have limited time as we did. "
