"On arrival was hit by the very pleasant aroma in the reception area. It would be nice if the hallways & rooms smelt like this. Breakfast very good . Bar prices very expensive. Over £20 for a beer & large glass of wine. I understand why others were popping to nearby shop ."

"Out of town location. Property needs a makeover. Carpets overdue for clean or replacement. Room otherwise clean but not serviced daily. Reception staff polite and helpful but don't present a confidence in their product. Overall impression was shabby. Breakfast by 830am was limted to remains of much earlier cooked food. Had to bring attention to staff the mould on bread for toast."

"This is a hotel in a lovely location with much to see around it but what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend in a nice hotel was any thing but. The reception on arriving was stale and disinterested. The room was small. On the first day I had to go to reception three times just for milk. Saturday a wedding was held at the hotel and lack of management of noisy people outside our window until 1.40am meant very little sleep in spite of reporting it three times. Then Monday morning we awoke to the dragging and banging of the waste bins and collection and retuning of the bins. Started at 7am and went on until 7.40am. That was then replaced by the delivery of stock with the metal cages being dragged over paths and then empty ones being pulled two at time banging together and rattling like mad which lasted until after 9am. Breakfast was typical, but cold. With staff clearing the table before we had finished eating. Then Monday morning they were short on staff so no buffet breakfast but we could order. So we picked out fruit and cerial and before we could even get half way through it the cooked breakfast was brought by a waiter who was so disinterested and just slapped them on the table and was not happy when we asked for bread for toast. Apart from one member of staff the rest were solemn, totally void of any interest. Serious lack of training and definitely not silver service. We should have stayed in premier inn where they guarantee a good nights sleep at a third of the price."

"A Characterful Coaching Inn set in lovely countryside - staff on the reception were very good, Bar and waiting staff, young but pretty good. The 2 steak dishes we had were also pretty good. We'd certainly stay here again. The Cosy Double Room we had just for 1 night was very clean and in excellent condition."

"We travelled from Stroud, hoping to treat ourselves to a relaxing stay at a well-known hotel. There were definitely positives. The room was very clean, well maintained and attractive, and the pool and spa facilities were excellent. The seating areas and walking opportunities around the hotel were great. Breakfast was one of the main let-downs. The continental breakfast was only okay, and my bacon sandwich was average. My partner paid an extra £3 for the “American style pancakes”, but what arrived was extremely underwhelming: four very thin pancakes, a tiny amount of sliced strawberry, and six blueberries. For a hotel of this standard, we were surprised by the lack of quality. Our evening in the bar was affected by an extremely drunk guest who was disturbing others while they were eating and drinking. He was drinking directly from a bottle of red wine and approaching people, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The situation became worse when I went to the toilet and the same guest was in there behaving in an aggravated manner, talking loudly. I felt intimidated and stayed in the cubicle until he left. We also slept very poorly due to a groaning noise outside our room late into the night, and the room was uncomfortably hot. When we got home, both of us were shattered and slept for three hours, which was the opposite of the relaxing stay we wanted. Overall, the hotel has excellent facilities, but the stay was let down by breakfast, the bar situation, and poor sleep."

"Reasonable location.Shabby street side appearance.Better inside with traditional comfort and reasonably clean appearance. Bedroom clean and comfortable. Staff were agreeable but not overly concerned to be pleasant and helpful, with a few exceptions. Breakfast was okay and freshly cooked, however if you appeared at the latest time there were no smiles and pleasantries. Dinner was very good and outside dining very pleasant."
