Mountain Home with Beautiful Views

Welcome to A Ridge Retreat!

A Ridge Retreat is a 4BR/2.5BA mountain home with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Experience incredible panoramic views from the warmth of the hot tub or the comfort of the ample seating around the wrap-around covered porch. Walk down to the private wooden swing on a clear night and take in an uninterrupted sky full of stars!

*Winter Weather Advisory: Access is via a 1/4 mile shared gravel driveway. The approach is steep. It is necessary to have 4-wheel drive AND tire chains for ice to navigate the driveway during winter weather. Vehicles must not be left on the driveway as this endangers the neighbors.

Take a step inside and meet the perfect combination of classic elegance and rustic charm. The main living room has a cozy stone fireplace and a large flat-screen TV. Adjacent, you will find the open dining room and kitchen, updated with stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite countertops.

The king master suite, also on the main level, invites you in with its private fireplace and bathroom. There is private access to the back porch from this bedroom, right by the hot tub. Another bedroom with a twin-over-twin bunk bed is also on the main level with a shared bathroom.

Come prepared for a little friendly competition as you enter the game room on the lower level. Enjoy a game of billiards, bring the heat during a round of foosball, or relax by the wet bar - there is something for everyone! Two king bedrooms share a full bathroom on this lower level.

This private retreat provides you a taste of the tranquility the High Country offers. However, if you enjoy exploring, this home is only a 35-minute drive to adventures like Watauga Lake, Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and much more. Take a stroll through downtown Boone, less than 30 minutes away, and enjoy fantastic dining, unique shopping, and local events.

Very clean and comfortable house. View was amazing. Long and steep drive up dirt road to get to house and long drive to restaurants and stores. Property was amazing, had hot tub which was great to sit in and enjoy view. Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home. Plenty of room for the kiddos, we’ll maintained property and excellent communication from management about how to prepare and what to expect. Highly recommend!

Hot tub has been an issue for two years and it did not work at all this year. We enjoy the rental. Could in my opinion provide more towels which would allow for less time doing laundry. Probable do over.

Such a beautiful view. We were disappointed in some of the cleanliness of the home, as well as the lack of information on road conditions/ neighborhood rules/ and traveling info. Our first night roads were very icy, we were stuck on the curve. Told to keep the car there until morning, and ended up being hit. A vacation that was suppose to be stress free, was very stressful on day one and two. Woken up by screaming neighbor at 6am. Bug found in bed. And now 1000's worth do damage. We wish that we would have had more info about being able to park at the bottom of the road, and neighborhood road conditions. But loved the view and coziness of the home.

I honestly cannot say enough things about this property. The view alone was worth the cost, and the amount of bedrooms with ample sleeping areas for our seven person group were fantastic. As the designated cook in the group I simply loved the view of the mountains from the kitchen, and the living room, and the basement... I could go on! Not only that but the rental property managers were quick to respond with any and all questions that we had. The kitchen itself was fantastic with plenty of dishware and cooking supplies, if I weren't on vacation I would have truly enjoyed the gorgeous dinner plates and places that were in the lovely dining room. Additionally, there were two cupboards chock-full of cookbooks to really peak your interest. The hot tub was perfectly fine as long as you covered it when you weren't using it, because obviously the cold mountain air is going to bring it down a few degrees after you've been sitting in it for a couple of hours, which we did and enjoyed immensely! The master bedroom was fantastic, and the master bathroom with its dual shower heads was truly a treat and was a wonderful surprise. Just a heads up to future guests, you do have to drive into Boone which is about 35 minutes away to get to a grocery store (and adult beverages), however the Cove Creek general store which is only 20 minutes away does have many necessities. (Apparently there is another general store even closer but unfortunately it was closed but during the week we were there, hopefully they will open back up soon!) This however is not a drawback considering most of us want to go to the mountains to get away, not to be right next to a busy location! Last but not least, because of the way the cabin faces you can see both the sunrise and the sunset, which pictures simply do not do justice. I would most certainly stay here again!

I can see the why tje warni g about 4 wheel dr in winter is a must. Even in the summer its long drive up a sometimes steep gravel road and driveway. The property is very secluded and only one other cabin can be swen close by when on the deck. Otherwise you feel completely alone. The decor is great, inside and out. It is definately well maintained. All of the extras worked as they should. Will be going back

Had a wonderful time at our stay. Cozy aesthetic, a wonderful amount of space, and had a great view that we enjoyed from the hot tub. Had very reasonable distance to everything around but still felt very private.

It was a very nice and quiet place too stay. Could have been cleaner. Lights on entrance needs to be fixed so you can see the driveway entrance at night.... Especially in the fog.

We had a blast and had fun navigating the drive in our minivan. Thankfully it was dry!! Beautiful place.

The road to get to the cabin is treacherous. A snow storm was predicted for the day of our arrival. We rushed our plans to get there on time. We were then snowed in. The house did not have adequate materials (snow shovels, salt, flashlights) to help us dig our way out. Neighbors of the rental told us that other renters have slid off the road and gotten stuck in the deep ditch quite frequently and have then had to be towed out. All of the other houses had a spot to park at the bottom of the steep treacherous hill, all but us, which is what caused us to be stranded. We ended up shoveling the cabin's long driveway by ourselves with a garden shovel. Carolina Cabins never called to check on us even though they knew we were stranded at the cabin. On the third day there was a thaw so we took our chances to try and get down the hill as the weather was forecasted to freeze overnight and we would not be able to check-out at the required time. We called Carolina Cabin Rentals who said we would still be charged for the extra night even though we were leaving to help the agency and not be there past our check out time. It would have been nice if Carolina Cabins would have been more responsive and cared about our safety in some small way! I will DEFINITELY not rent from this company again. You should be able to get to your rental safely. (I own a V8 engine 4-wheel drive vehicle and grew up in New England. I am not a snow wimp. I do know however when it is not safe to be on an icy road.

My friends and I always spend every MLK weekend at a cabin in the mountains and they said this one was their favorite. Great house with a great view!

This cabin was great! The communication was always quick and clear. The only thing I would advise is to let guests know that one of the rooms is very tight in comparison to the rest and to emphasize bringing a car that will not get stuck in ice and snow.

Due to covid we are unable to travel home for the holiday so we took a secluded trip to the mountains with three of our children. We splurged on a cabin that had plenty to do and most importantly a hot tub. The cabin is beautiful, with many elegant upgrades however we were extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabin. Especially during this current time and COVID I expected the cabin to be extremely clean. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed were the dirty windows on the sliding glass doors and the drink rings left behind on the glass coffee table. I found what I could and began giving the house a good cleaning. We're only allotted one roll of paper towels which would have been plenty for our family for four days however having to clean I went through the roll immediately. The cabinets and counter tops were all in need of a good cleaning/dusting including the tv stand. The cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen all needed to be wiped down as well. The walls are in desperate need of a paint job. They are currently covered in flat paint so they show everything and the kitchen and master bath especially were covered in drip marks making you feel the house was very dirty. The floors were covered in dust and crumbs. We swept the entire house. None of these things were anything so major that we had to bother having someone come out and interfere with our short time here so we took the first 45 minutes at the cabin to just clean it ourselves. We paid a hefty cleaning fee so I expected more knowing that whoever stayed before us would also have had to pay that cleaning fee. Later in the evening we checked the hot tub which was a somewhat low water level and the not crystal clear. Not unusable but definitely looked as if it is need of a basic cleaning. The ice machine on the refrigerator was completely packed with a large iceberg of ice so obviously hadn't been Checked in some time. It took a good twenty minutes to break it down and get it back in working order. There were dust bunnies and cobwebs on the walls near the curtains in the master bedroom and in piles in the corner of the dining room as well. One of the basement rooms sheets were covered in particles and hair. My older children ended up sleeping together in another room as to not use that bed at all. Once we cleaned I felt much better about our stay for the remaining days. I expected a secluded cabin than probably isn't used much but I didn't expect, knowing that we were coming for a stay, that the house would look almost untouched. During these times I actually figured it would be extra clean. It is a beautiful home but is desperate need of a deep cleaning. We would love to stay there again but would fear with the current cleaning situation that the house would be in the same condition next time. The view is impeccable and house setup would receive from me 5 stars however for cleaning I would give it a1. Overall I would give it 3 stars.

IT IS WITH GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT THAT "OUR HOUSE" FOR PAST FIVE YEARS HAD ISSUES THIS YEAR.COVID 19 HAS WRECKED OUR LIFES AND WHEN YOU WALK INTO YOUR FAVORITE VACATION HOME AND IT IS NOT CLEAN, IT MAKES YOU UNHAPPY. THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY DID A GREAT JOB IN HELPING US WITH OUR ISSUES. OUR OTHER ISSUE IS THAT WE HAVE TO HAUL THRASH TO SOUTH CAROLINA ON SUNDAY. THE MANAGEMENT CO NOR THE HOUSE CLEANER HAUL THRASH AND THERE IS NO DUMP OPENED ON SUNDAYS ON BETHEL ROAD OR BOONE ACCORDING TO THE WEBSITE OF WATAGUA COUNTY. THE DUMP WAS NOT OPEN ON FRIDAY ON BETHEL ROAD. THE HOME IS IN VERY REMOTE AND A STEEP INCLINE AREA AND WE DO NOT LIKE LEAVING THE HOUSE EACH DAY. AGAIN, WE LOVE THIS HOUSE AND WISH THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY WOULD LET US LEAVE THE THRASH FOR THE CLEANING CREW. YES, WE WILL RETURN TO OUR FAVORITE "HOME" AND SING OUR HEARTS OUT ON THE DECK, WATCH OUR FOOTBALL GAMES, PLAY A LITTLE POOL AND GAZE AT THE BEAUTIFUL SUNRISES AND SUNSETS. THE YCWOW!

We had a fantastic time! The view from the house is amazing. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds sitting on the deck. The house had everything we needed for the stay. Easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Elb Knob State park. Thank you to the owners and Carolina Cabins. The last 1.6 miles is not paved and just gravel road with a winding and steep climb so be prepared to reach the house during the daylight hours. The couch needs updating. Carolina Cabins was responsive quickly to issues we had.

Our family had a wonderful time at this home. We spent 5 nights in December. The house was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Everyone enjoyed the pool table and foosball. The only minor request I would make is better lighting. The lights were very dim.

This is a beautifully located home with stunning views and fun amenities. There were some cleaning issues that could have been better addressed; crumbs on the dining table, pillows on the living room furniture disheveled. Small things that make a big difference to a renter. The carpet is extremely dirty and worn. The microwave door handle was broken, and the knob to open the kitchen window did not work properly. I would rent here again.

WE HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOME FOR PAST FOUR YEARS. OUR BIGGEST BEEF IS THE RENTAL INCREASED $400 IN ONE YEAR. WE NOTICED THAT ONLY 2 TOWELS PER ROOM ARE PROVIDED FOR SIX WOMEN. ONE TOWEL FOR THREE DAYS FOR 6 WOMEN TO SHOWER AND DO HER HAIR. 2 DISHWASHING TABLETS FOR 3.5 DAYS. NO HOTTUBS TOWELS BESIDE THE SIDING GLASS DOOR ARE NO LONGER PROVIDED. MICROWAVE DOOR IS CRACKED. OUTLET PLUGS (LOWER) DID NOT WORK IN THE MASTER BEDRROOM BY SIDING GLASS BESIDE. UNABLE TO USE CPAC MACHINE. OUTLET IN LIVING ROOM BY BUFFET TABLE IN LOWERCASE DID NOT WORK. NO PORCH LIGHTS ON LOWER LEVEL WORKED AT ALL. DISAPPOINTED THAT THE SPICES THAT HAD BEEN KEPT IN THE HOME PRIOR TO THIS YEAR WAS VERY LITTLE. SINCE THE COUNTY DUMP IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY THAT IS NEAR THE HOUSE, WE EITHER HAVE TO GO INTO BOONE ON SUNDAY TO DUMP THE GARBAGE OR HAUL IT HOME. THAT IS A MAJOR PET PEEVE FOR US. IF ASU HAS A HOME GAME ON SATURDAY IN BOONE, IT IS HELL GOING INTO BOONE. BOB DOES AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF CLEANING THE HOUSE. THE HOME IS TASTEFUL DECORATIVE AND HE JUST MAKES IT SHINE.WE WILL RENT THE HOUSE NEXT YEAR, I AM HOPING WE GET A DECENT REDUCTION FOR LONG TIME USERS BENEFITS AND THE TROUBLE WE HAVE WITH HAULING GARBAGE. THANKS, SUSAN, CAROLYN, MISSI, LARA, HELENA AND JUDY

We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen had everything needed. The hot tub was perfect and the view amazing. Our only con was the approximately 1 mile gravel road to get to the house.

Only thing that could make it better would be a fire pit. Everything else was great!
