This was a level above - kindness, value, and quality. We discovered something here unlike every generic hotel you’ve ever been. Our bags were taken to our room and we had a welcome drink on the terrace overlooking the spectacular Douro Valley. We joined other guests for a family style meal and enjoyed getting to know people from many different countries. Our comfortable room had a large terrace overlooking the Douro River, there is a nice swimming pool on the property and the views are beautiful! The included breakfast was delicious and substantial, and the dinner we had there was quite good. This is a family-owned place and the owner’s son Paolo, who is the manager, was very welcoming and kind. We would return! "
