About this property
Ca' Grassi 2 Charming Balcony
Three newly revamped apartments in a pretty, salmon-pink, antique palazzetto within the calm and cultured setting of upmarket San Samuele.
Elegantly attired in a classic, homely style and peacefully positioned within a genteel neighbourhood dotted with galleries and antique shops well clear of the hustle and bustle yet close to Campo Santo Stefano, these inviting apartments are of differing sizes and sleep up to 10 guests when taken together.
Just a few steps from the renowned Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art in a parish that legendary lover Casanova called home, the palazzetto offers a stylish address to rest easy within a short and pleasant stroll of the many attractions of St. Mark’s Square.
Moments from the illustrious Palazzo Mocenigo on the Grand Canal (the one time Venetian bolthole of ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ British romantic poet and literary figure, Lord Byron) and boasting air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and a warm and welcoming ambience in each, the Ca’ Grassi apartments comprise:
Ca’ Grassi 2 (Sleeps 3 on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – no lift)
Communal palazzetto entrance with stairs rising up to the apartment entrance
•Bright, cheerful and situated to the front of the palazzetto – a spacious and tastefully furnished main sitting/dining room/well-equipped kitchenette freshly decked out in buttermilk yellow and with a double sofa bed, a dining table for 4, traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring and a wall almost entirely composed of floor-to-ceiling glazed doors flooding the room with light and opening directly onto a romantic columned balcony, a superb vantage point from which to observe the comings and goings along the 'Salizada' below
•A light and airy double bedroom with 4-poster double bed, terrazzo flooring and a charming, restful atmos
And completing the accommodation:
•A smart, refitted contemporary style bathroom with shower
* Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close to each other but in separate apartments? We offer 2 other apartments in this Venetian palazzetto (little palace): Ca’ Grassi 1 (on the 2nd Floor) and Ca’ Grassi 3 (on the 3rd Floor)
OUR COMMENT
A tried and tested property with a beautiful balcony, much loved by previous guests, now refurbished and offering comfortable and peaceful accommodation in a great spot.
Situated right beside ‘Casa Veronese’ (once the home of the 16th Century Italian Renaissance painter, Paolo Veronese) and within steps of the neighbourhood grocery store/delicatessen, a wine shop, a range of cafes/osterie (including those fringing the nearby Campo Santo Stefano), plus the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings – and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ (one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici).
A stone’s throw to the Accademia Bridge crossing the Grand Canal over to Dorsoduro and conveniently close the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Samuele and Sant' Angelo for easy travel around the city, and to the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry which, during operating times, carries passengers across the Grand Canal between Calle Del Tragheto (near Sant’ Angelo) and San Toma in the district of San Polo.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.
Beds will be arranged as either doubles or twins as shown in the photos. The possibility of turning a double bed into twins or vice versa can be found in the description and must be requested at least 7 days before arrival.

Fantastic apartment. The ceilings were insanely high and the floor to ceiling windows meant a very bright apartment which is rare given the narrow and shaded streets of Venice. It was also very spacious and well-maintained. Beautiful walk-in shower. Also very easy to get to everything including nearby restaurants but the apartment and street were very quiet which we loved because the tourists and hustle and bustle in some areas of Venice can be overwhelming.
The location of this property was fantastic, with easy access via the water bus, making it convenient to get around. The home itself offers plenty of space. However, it’s managed by a large rental company, which seems to be the norm these days. This made the place feel more like a rental unit rather than someone's home, lacking that personal touch. With some simple upgrades and a thorough cleaning, this property could easily earn a five-star rating. It has great potential but just needs a bit more attention to detail to make it truly exceptional.
This is a wonderful apartment! It's beautiful, clean, and in a great location! It also has a charming balcony with a lovely view. You should book it!

Great Apartment / Great Location
Ca Grassi 2 was perfect for my daughter, 8 year old granddaughter and myself. Very clean, very spacious and a great location.
This was my 6th stay with Views of Venice and I appreciate the professional service provided from the time of booking to check out. Mille grazie.
The apartment was as described - and in a wonderful and quiet location within close walking distance to San Marco. Overall - excellent choice for a place! Our only complaint was that on the day of arrival - the local "representative" was unreachable by Whatsapp (as instructed to contact her) - and we had to contact VOV's "help" line 3 times to reorganize check-in upon arrival - which created unnecessary stress to an otherwise great place! VOV was ultimately responsive and resolved the issue - and did sent another representative - but we ended up waiting at the local water taxi station for a while (and had to call again) before the (very gracious rep) arrived.

A peaceful retreat
The location was excellent, close to 2 vaporetto stops and with shops and osterias close at hand, it was unexpectedly peaceful. Matteo who met us on arrival, could not have been more helpful - he answered all of our questions and his local knowledge was superb.
We could not access the guest wifi (could not locate the network) during our stay but this didn't detract from our long weekend.
Since Venice is a small island (and other islands) it makes it good that most of the places we wanted to see where well within walking.
The narrow streets, however, do not seem to want to allow the GPS to give good directions - as we found out the dark night we spent 90 minutes lost. Fortunately the VRBO managers assistant helped us quickly and got us 'home'.
There is two things that need to be known: 1) the steps to the front door of the apartment are high - 38 steps. 2) beyond the side of the island that "most" of the sites are know by tourists, in the direct opposite direction there are a wealth of things to see. I wish we'd been told about those.

San Samuele Delight
Great location, charming and elegant apartment with everything we needed. Enjoyed meeting View on Venice staff in person in Dosoduro and really appreciate all of the services they provide.
Excellent location close to the main walking routes and Accademia bridge, but still on a quiet street that feels like a few Venetians might actually live there. Very comfortable, roomy, nicely equipped, and aesthetically pleasing -- loved the big windows and balcony! We did not use the kitchen but it was great to have a washing machine.

Compact and convenient
We have stayed in Venice many times and we love the San Samuele area where this apartment is located. The apartment itself was very comfortable and both rooms are air conditioned. It is well appointed with washing machine, dishwasher and fridge built in. (so not perhaps visible on the photos). We would (and probably will) stay there again.
