"We chose the Illinois River Valley because it is halfway between my home in Kentucky and my brother's home in Minnesota. It is in building Y nestled in a wooded corner of a cluster of lovely cedar-shingled fourplexes behind the Grand Bear Resort. You can walk to the St. Louis Canyon trail from the complex. You can drive to Starved Rock or Mathieson in five minutes. Both have terrific trails. Aneta's instructions were clear and the home is very clean and well appointed. Beds are quite comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if we decide on a return trip."

"Great place with all the necessities. Quiet and relaxing place. Great communication with Robert. Easy access. The Grand Bear Resort has a nice little mini golf, corn hole and outdoor bar area which was nice to hang out with friends and family. Starved Rock Park was a quick drive. Utica was a cute little town with many good food options. Would recommend staying here - and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!"

"Great location! Clean and roomy! Minutes away from Starved Rock and within 20 minutes to some delicious local restaurants and breweries. The Bear Lodge also has amenities - mini golf, corn hole boards, outdoor bar and water park. Would stay here again!"

"Came for Memorial Day weekend, and had a great time. Place was clean and very spacious. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to starved rock state park. A lot of cute local shops to check out. Great communication with host. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a chill getaway. 10/10 do recommend."

"We had an amazing weekend stay! The place was clean and spacious for us! It had everything we needed! We will for sure be back! Loved the town of Utica! They had just set up their Mills Street with outdoor dining and we had a wonderful time! The town is very family friendly and we will be bringing the kids with us next time! We hiked all of the trails in Starved Rock and most of the trails at Matthiessen as well! Definitely recommend eating at Bruce and Ollie’s and Skoogs! Thank you so much for our amazing stay! We will definitely be back!"
