"A family friendly place. Amazing food all prepared with home grown ingredients. A very good breakfast with eggs made to order and pancakes. A breakfast buffet is also available with a nice spread of baked goods, fresh fruits, cereal and yogurt. Whatever coffee you want. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Recommend this place without hesitation."

"We were given a different room than we booked (same price but smaller), with natural light only coming through the door (this is pretty normal in the area but not great in winter). Shower wasn’t great as the door didn’t close properly and the water didn’t flow well. Service was a bit impersonal with little explanation of the grounds. Staff didn’t seem to particularly care about guests. Overall ok for the price but wouldn’t come back."

"This place was simply amazing! Everything about it was perfect, from the delightful and energetic host to the gardens. Our room was beautiful and perfectly appointed. We even had our own private little courtyard. If this was a 3-star masseria, I can't imagine how 5-star ones could be any nicer. The place is surrounded by olive groves that date back to as many as 1,000 years. The masseria itself is a perfectly and tastefully restored building that includes a lower-level breakfast room that was carved into the rock. The breakfast itself was amazing and made mostly by the hostess/owner herself. I would not hesitate to return to this beautiful, peaceful place."

"Had a wonderful stay at Masseria Sottomasi - the grounds are simply stunning, vast, luscious and so well laid out that there is always a space to escape as if you were the only one there! A retreat to relax and unwind with just the birds singing and the odd distant hum of a local tractor in a neighbouring olive grove - a wonderful place to meditate and unwind away from reality! The owner, Ruth, was so welcoming and always careful to check that all is well, and a very kind and gentle lady. The food was delicious - with a very talented head chef, offering a range of different dishes (the fresh fish, grilled to perfection!) - and the service from the front of house Antonella was second to none, always remembering preferences from the day before, and always serving with a smile! Would definitely recommend a stay here! Finally, the manager, Pino, was very welcoming, and always available to help if you asked - he is a great asset to Masseria Sottomassi! We look forward to visiting again soon! "
