The Imperial Torquay

"We did enjoy our stay at the Imperial, the breakfast was excellent. Very nice indoor pool with spa, it was a shame that the outside pool was not in use particularly during this very hot spell. My only complaint, and I should have mentioned this to reception, as soon as we entered the room there was an unpleasant smell of stale urine, I thought maybe that it could have been the bathroom but it was not. It turned out to be in the wardrobes. Our clothes did not smell very good after 4-5 days when we went home, some of the things that we took to wear that were not worn had to be washed again on our return, our clothes did not smell very nice when they were taken out of the case on our return. I am surprised that this was not picked up by the cleaning staff."

"Really nice hotel at the price point. Friendly helpful staff and excellent buffet breakfast. Parking was a bit tricky as it is on the road outside and fairly full whilst we were staying but we always managed to find a space. Very good location for beach / shops etc. Double bed seemed a bit small but comfy enough. Would certainly stay there again and will recommend to friends."

Riviera Hotel

"For the price it met my expectations, basic but everything you need room wise. Breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular. The building itself was a complete rabbit warren. To access my room it was basically a maze - up, down, turn right, down, turn than up 4 floors, over the other side then down again. Total mess of a floor plan. I can only assume that wasn’t on purpose and just expanded room by room - but ultimately equals a total nightmare to navigate. Parking was excellent. Plenty of room and only £9 per 24h - which I thought was great value. Well positioned hotel for the sea front - only a couple mins walk and you’re there. Room was incredibly hot, heated flooring in bathroom was not a welcome addition in a heatwave. No air con, but they do leave a little fan in the room - not that it helped in heatwave temps. Overall, not a bad place. You get what you pay for, expect to get exactly the value back as the room rate charged and you won’t be disappointed. Basic but absolutely fine."
