"Great wee place for overnight stay. Only negative was the bath only had a had held shower spray head, no proper shower in our room. Massive room, very quiet even looking onto the main road. Lovely food and big breakfast."

"Stayed here for overnight for our fifth anniversary. The hotel is in lovely surroundings and looks amazing. The staff are all friendly and helpful. However, after staying it’s clear this venue is certainly more geared towards being a wedding venue, rather than a hotel. We were very kindly given a bottle of Prosecco for the occasion, which was very lovely. However, the room we were given was tiny, with a gap of around 8 inches between the bed and the wall, and was located directly above both reception and the bar toilets, so we could hear other guests checking in word-for-word, as well as taps and hand dryers every few minutes. I raised this with staff who again very kindly offered an alternative room which was much bigger and more appropriate - however still slightly noisy with doors throughout the venue being heard shutting. However, we were very lucky that this other room was the last available, otherwise we’d have been stuck with the other. The receptionist explained this happens often with non-wedding guests, which we totally understood but there is no indication when booking that the venue is meant to be a ‘drop the bags, attend the wedding, sleep, and go’. Again, the setting, staff and restaurant were all great. But we were slightly disappointed that the initial room was so inadequate and that this is seen as standard just because they primarily cater to weddings. Would recommend to anyone for a wedding, but any other stay I’d be less inclined."

"The cottage was fine (marred only by a few missing items, e.g. the remote control for the bedroom TV, no drying rack) with a location that saw very little traffic and is a good base for deeper forays into the Yorkshire Dales (If you want to use this cottage to base bike-rides, be warned - there is no secure outside storage).The biggest let-down was the pub (one of our selection criteria) that was closed. Permanently. In fact, post-COVID many of the pubs in this area are now closed - including the (formally) excellent The Bridge Inn (at Whorlton). The saving grace was Coghlans of Barningham which had a daily shop with fresh, locally-produced goods, and a Friday night dining club (which was excellent and the high point of our stay)."

"I was one of a party of 6 who recently stayed at Old Bank House. It is conveniently situated right on the main street near the bottom end and, as such, was perfect for local amenities and walks. The house was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, and well equipped. Prior to our visit, Sarah sent some really helpful information about the property and the area. Any of our questions were promptly and efficiently responded to. We were all delighted with the house and would be entirely happy to return. It was excellent value for money."
