**While the home is fully staffed and comes with all amenities for your comfort, Sundays and Federal Holidays are a well-deserved day off for our team. House staff and breakfast will not be available on this day to ensure they enjoy their rest.
**Less than 3 minutes up the hill, this home offers stunning views—best accessed with a car or golf cart due to the slightly steep, unpaved road
**On VRBO, we offer a full cancelation 48 hours after booking. We require a 30% deposit to book and the balance is due 60 days prior. Any cancelations made prior to 60 days before arrival are given a 50% refund of the deposit. Within 60 days, the reservation is non refundable.

We enjoyed the outdoor space in this house. The views were gorgeous. Other than sleeping in your bedroom, you do not use the inside space. Everything is dated and needs to be freshened up. Although the house was clean, it seemed dirty because it was dated- especially the kitchen. The bedrooms were fine to sleep in and had A/C. The rest of the house did not and was hot. The housekeeper was 10/10. Did our laundry without asking and cooked us breakfast if we wanted. The maintenance guys were also helpful. We had a chef that came in every night to cook and we loved that. His name was Luis Dinarte, with Guanacaste Food Experience and I’d highly recommend him. Although you could walk into town, it is a trek and the road is horrible. We had a car, which was expensive but I do not think you have a choice if you stay at this property.

Great home for a group of adults or a few families. The layout is awesome and the vibe of the home is great. The only complaint i would have is 3 of the bedrooms are in a building separate from the house. There is only one bathroom for these three bedrooms. Whoever is staying in the top floor bedroom has to walk outside and go downstairs to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Not ideal for older people. The room has great views but the bathroom situation might be something to consider depending on your group. Worked out fine for us and we loved everything about the house!

Had an amazing time at Casa Leo Loco through Stay in Tamarindo! The house (Casa Leo Loco) was awesome! Very unique and excellent for a family like ours. My mom (80), wife, three daughters (15, 18 and 21) rounded out with daughters 21 year boyfriend. From the moment of booking, I worked with Cris G, our concierge from Stay in Tamarindo and she was literally, 'THE BEST'! She made the trip by helping me schedule a bunch of activities. We decided for this trip to do more water activities, than hiking or jungle/rainforest activities. Just our preference. Therefore, she coordinated rides to and from the airport, rental vehicle (Toyota Rush 7 seat SUV) for trips around with the entire family, and a 6 seat Polaris side by side (highly recommended) for the kids to drive all around town, beaches, off road, etc... Cris, also handled scheduling a private Catamaran tour, a two hour jet ski tour in the ocean, as well as Surf lessons. The final was the house comes with a boat rental for four hours. We elected to deep sea fish and caught Tuna and a huge 120 pound SailFish! Cris helped us with three private dinners which were definitely amazing! As for the house, it is located up the hill about 5 minutes from downtown/beach and the view from the backyard of the sunsets over the ocean was amazing! We had this view every night! The pool is unbelievable... I would highly recommend this house for families and couples. Not young children due to pool. Cris G and the team were excellent!

Great property for a group of friends or large family. The photos really don't do it justice - the yard was an absolute paradise! We had 4 couples and a single friend all in 30s-40s stay and each had our own separate space. We loved the openness of the common areas and views were spectacular. We felt incredibly safe throughout our stay with the gated entry and security guards. The housekeeper was amazing and she also made us coffee and breakfast, what a treat! Communication with the property managers was super easy and they will arrange activities, transportation or a private chef for you. The only things I wanted to share that will be helpful to others is that the 3 guestrooms in the tower share one bathroom and two outdoor showers. the heat also rises, so the upper bedroom got warm at night. However, for kids or laidback friends, it won't be too big an issue! There is no AC in the main communal area, however we didn't feel a need for it during our stay. The AC in the main bedrooms all worked amazing. As many note, there is a huge long hill to climb if you want to walk home from town, but it didn't bother us too much. It's a nice way to get exercise and if you're not up for walking, ubers are $5 to/from town - super easy and accessible location to downtown Tamarindo and some amazing shops, bars, and beach!

This property left myself and my friends speechless! Before we even stepped foot on the property the communication with Five Star rentals was fantastic. They helped communicate for golf rentals, an adventure tour, and provided recommendations. The check in process was seamless and they even helped bring some friends that arrived early a ride up the hill. Ana is amazing and really helped make our stay five stars! The AC was fantastic in each room and the open-air concept on the main level was great for immersing into the nature around you. The real star of the show was the pool with that view!!!! The pictures do not do it justice. The hill is the only downfall of the property, but when you see the view at the top it is all worth it! I would definitely recommend golf cart rentals for this property which helped with getting up and down the hill. Our group of 9 loved this property and have been recommending it to all our friends. This is truly a unique luxury rental!

Casa Leo Loco is a total gem of a property. The entire residence is meticulously maintained and very clean. The gardens and landscaping all around the property are so beautiful. The pool... was just WOW and absolutely perfect in temperature, size and views of Tamarindo and the ocean. Our host property managers at Five Star Rentals Tamarindo (Natalia & Ana) were so friendly and helpful. They arranged to have the place ready for us much earlier than our check in time as our arrival from Canada was quite early in the morning. They were kind enough to accommodate an early check in as the property was not booked that day, which allowed us to enjoy the property for the entire day instead of waiting all day for check in. Natalia and Ana were also very helpful in arranging for a chef to cook for us at the house one evening (which I would highly recommend with Catering Costa Events). They also arranged all our adventure tours and transfers to/from the airport. We were two families of four staying at Casa Leo Loco including 4 teenagers. The size of the property and number of bedrooms was perfect for 8 people (any more would probably be a bit crowded, depending on the age of the children). The main floor bedroom located in the tower (which has two single beds) was a bit "too rustic" for any of the teenagers to sleep in so I'd keep that in mind when booking this property as two of the boys ended up sharing a room and bed. The location of the property which sits on a hilltop overlooking the town of Tamarindo is amazing for its 180 degree views of the ocean and incredible sunsets....which were stunning to say the least. It's about a 10-15 minute walk down the hill to get to the main road in town and there are no shops or amenities on the hill. The hill is quite steep so I would highly recommend renting a gas powered golf cart (there are 4 seater or 6 seater options) and make sure to reserve it ahead of your stay especially during busy season. We didn't rent golf carts ahead of time and regretted it as the walk up the steep hill can be daunting in the heat and the path/dirt road up the hill at night is dark and not lit. You can also take a taxi up to the property for about $10 US one way as an option to renting golf carts. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Casa Leo Loco... and Tamarindo. This property, the view, and our friendly hosts will definitely have us coming back again soon!

From the moment we entered the property, our vacation was perfect. Ana made us feel very welcome upon arrival and was very responsive to any question we had. She arranged all of our transportation to and from activities and recommended amazing tour guides and catering services. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. The pool area was where most of our time was spent and the view is perfection. The town of Tamarindo is a five minute drive at most, so shopping and restaurants are very accessible.

Our group of 11 friends had the most amazing time here. It’s a truly special place. We had massages and Private chefs come to the house for us, highly recommend doing that! And jumping off the 2nd floor into the infinity pool was awesome. Can’t say enough great things, we didn’t want to leave! Just book it.

Overall a great stay! The road to get to the hill is pretty rough but the views are amazing. You will hear and likely see howler monkeys and lots of hummingbirds. The landscape and back yard are cared for daily and the tram is great at providing recommendations and responding quickly. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time! The view is beautiful, we enjoyed it every evening. The rooms were wonderful and a/c in each room was fantastic for sleeping. All the outdoor gathering areas were constantly in use and we loved the resident iguana, we named it “Lana”. Natalia and Maria were so easy to communicate with, and delightful gals. We hired Juan and Maria thru “Let Me Cook for You” and what a fabulous experience on top of the home! Tamarindo and Casa Leo Loco are unforgettable!

I got married in Tamarindo 4/16 and rented Leo Loco for my family to stay in during their trip. The Major selling point was the jump from the master balcony to the pool as we had several kids with us. It was an absolute hit with everyone who visited and made for some great pictures! Pros: -The view and pool area was unbelievable. -The management company (Maria) was super responsive and texted you back immediately. -Coffee bar is a great touch -The Master bedroom is absolutely to DIE for! -The caretaker was busting his butt our entire stay. they literally have a dude who spends 6 hours a day taking care of the plants, pool, etc. Cons: -Only the bedrooms have air conditioning, NOT the main room. This wasn't a huge deal for us but definitely would have been something I would want CLEARLY stated in the description. -The only bedroom connected to the main house is the master. All of the other ones require walking outside to access, which may cause an issue if you are traveling with kids and want them under the same roof. -I can't imagine walking the hill so golf carts/mopeds are a must. Overall, an excellent experience and we would stay here again.

Wow! If you're looking to visit Tamarindo, definitely do go! The sunset every night took our breath away. People are friendly, the shopping was fun, food was great and the beach is so nice. The house- Pro's (there were way more pro's than con's): -The house was private! We couldn't hear any of our neighbors. -We couldn't have asked for a better view of downtown Tamarindo from our house. And it was so close to stores, restaurants and the beach. -The house-keep/property management was great. Anything we needed (wifi, pool issues, silly questions, etc) was mostly addressed within a short period of time. -The house was great. The fact that there were three separate places for us & our guests to stay in was great for our respective sanity. -We had iguanas regularly visit us and our pool! -The space inside and out was big enough that everyone felt at ease. The Con's (of the area, not the house): -We tend to forget that many Tamarindo houses run on well water, so flushing toilet paper was a no-no, though not the homeowner's fault. -Beware of the scorpions. We found one on our very first day. Don't leave your luggage open during your stay, or they will find a way in. -That hill! Although we loved our rental home, we did not love the steep climb to get to it. We ended up renting golf carts. Overall, everyone was very satisfied with our stay and would definitely rent this house again if we're in the Tamarindo area.

Our group had such an amazing stay and the villa was perfect for our party. My partner and I got engaged on the patio by the pool and it was the perfect setting. The pool and houses were perfect, well kept and well maintained. AC was great and every inch of the property was welcoming. We even got to hang out with the iguanas who came into the house to say high a few times. Downsides were that you couldn't flush toilet paper and the house is up quite a steep, unpaved road which was challenging at times. The security system was a little confusing but ok. That said, we loved our stay and hope to stay at this amazing villa again when we journey back to Costa Rica.

We loved our stay at the Five Star Tamarindo. The views were spectacular and the property was very spacious and provided our group of 9 lots of room to roam. We were very comfortable and preferred spending our time at the house. I would return to this property in a heart beat!

Management was very helpful and communicative. Lots of space for a large group. The hike up the hill is rewarded with a fantastic view. We were a group of 9 people and we all loved the house. We especially loved the frog figures in the backyard. We were also visited by howler monkeys in the tree. A truly wonderful stay.

Natalia was great to work with and house was fabulous. Would definitely stay again. The views of the coast were spectacular and the house layout was unique. Just be aware that only the bedrooms are air conditioned and not the kitchen common area, but we didn't care. I would also highly recommend renting a golf cart....I don't think walking to the beach/Main Street is realistic for most families. All and all, we loved the house and would highly recommend it for couples and families.

We stayed here from July 3, 2019 - July 11, 2019 and my only wish is that we could have stayed longer! This house was perfect! We have 2 teenagers and a tween, we also had a family join us with 2 teenage sons, we all fit comfortably in Casa Leo Loco! We were never crowded or standing on top of each other. The pool is perfect! I have no complaints! Nathalie is amazing, she checked on us often to make sure we didn't need anything and always responded immediately when I reached out to her! Highly recommend this house!!

I cannot begin to express how great Natalia was to work with. We had a lot of airport issues and she dealt with everything, so that our vacation was stress free. She also went out of her way to make sure the 1 year old traveling with us had everything she needed. Natalia also had recommendations for us for surfing, a chef and a sunset cruise. They were all amazing and went above our expectations! The house was beautiful and the view was unbeatable. It was very comfortable and we look forward to coming back soon.
