In my opinion don’t stay here until it’s fully remodeled or if you need automatic doors. Rooms are pretty old and some things are not working properly. Do not gamble here either unless you like losing your money.

The dock of the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion on the shore of Lake Tahoe in Sugar Pines Point State Park. The lake is magical in itself, but sitting there enjoying the entirety of the scenery is breath-taking. The mansion tour is US $12 and a very nice docent led exploration. The grounds have a lot to see as it is a part of a larger state park. Cheaper than the Vikingsholm tour nearby and much less crowded.

We liked this spot because it was away from the busyness of Tahoe City and South Tahoe. Also, less traffic.
