"Room was clean and pleasant. Staff were all helpful and friendly particularly Elizabeth on the desk. We upgraded our room to onevinnthe coach house which was quirky and nicely decorated and i really aporeciated the elemis toiletries. Reasonable selection of cold breakfast food and a decent english breakfast. Only drawback is the spa area which is very shabby with many cracked tiles in the steam room and by the pool. There was no hot water in the spa area and changing rooms as the boiler was broken. I chose the hotel partly because i trust macdonald hotels but in this case for the spa! So that was a pity really. I got the impression that they were understaffed that day- it was a Bank Holiday. "

"Excellent breakfast, good variety - smoothies, berry compote, homemade granola as well as other buffet food and great choice of hot breakfast. Lovely new cafe has opened within the hotel. Great room, and all the staff are friendly and efficient. "

"We stayed in a room that had a shower over the bath, quite a step to get out, we feel a bath mat should be provided. The towels are lovely and big, the bed was very comfortable but the pillows need replacing. Nice place to stay as it’s an easy walk into town. Yes we would stay here again."

"The staff were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests such as more tea and coffee for the room. The room itself was a nice size. It looked out onto Shakespeare's school house which was such a beautiful sight every morning. It was a little stuffy in the room and we had to prop the windows open with some books but this didnt let in a lot of air. The wallpaper looked a little scorched, possibly from the lamp next to the bed and there was what looked like a little damp mark coming from behind the wallpaper. They weren't doing bed and breakfast when I booked but there was a change of management just before our stay. We were offered to book breakfast a few days before our visit. I booked in for one breakfast for both of us, £15 pp. This was a little costly for what we had (one bacon sandwich, one sausage sandwich and a pot of tea) but there was plenty of options that would warrant the cost. All in all, perfect location, beautiful view from the room, clean and staff were lovely."

"The location is great - next to the river, canal and shops/eateries in the centre. We didn't eat at the hotel we stayed at and only used the bar one day of our three night stay. That day, we moved on as the beer cooler temporarily broke but planned to finish the night there, getting back about 2240 for a last drink. A male member of staff brusquely told us they were closed. I said we were staying and asked what time they were closing the following night so we could plan. They then told me they had closed early as it was not busy which I would understand for a pub in the middle of nowhere but not in the middle of Stratford where there are people moving from place to place. They sold us a drink to take to our room in the end but there were four of us (70th birthday - Mom, Dad, son and daughter in law across 2 rooms) and it would have been nice to know there is a variable closing time beforehand. Last negative was the housekeeping. The coffee etc top ups were bizarrely inconsistent but more importantly the area rhat housed them was dirty. There was a good amount of dried on old sugar welded to the holder and the spoons were properly rank with what looked like dried on powdered milk stuck to them from the off. Rank is definitely the word! Overall we had a nice stay though. The beds were comfy and blackout curtains a nice touch. Some of the staff were friendly and it is decent as a base bearing in mind there are lots of good places nearby to eat and drink."

"The location of the hotel was perfect. We could leave the car at the premises and enjoy a short walk into town. The room was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was good value. I would definitely recommend Avonpark House for an overnight stay. "
