"This has to be the best hotel in this area. Istanbul is intense (that's part of the experience!), but Sura Hagia Sophia is an excellent escape from that. It feels fabulous to arrive back there at the end of a busy day. The courtyard and pool area is well maintained and genuinely peaceful. Everything about the hotel was perfect for us (a family of 4, needing 2 rooms). We would definitely stay again.
One minor uncertainty (not to detract from the excellent hotel, just a comment ): when booking through Expedia, the hotel sent us a welcome message which asked whether we needed a transfer from the airport to the hotel. I replied "Yes - please book it", but I did not receive any concrete confirmation. I sent a further message and was told "Our transport team will contact you", but I didn't hear back before we travelled. This was ultimately not a problem: there are (of course) many public taxis waiting outside SAW airport and we just got in one! The price was about the same as the transfer offered by the hotel (ca 80 euro - about 1 hour journey). Once you get to the hotel, it becomes clear there is a separate team who arrange these things. That team was also very good and helpful - they arranged our transfer back - but for us there was just that minor glitch in communication which left us a bit uncertain on the outward trip. I recommend to ask the hotel for the specific contact details of the travel team - they communicated using Whatsapp."
