Perfect location (two minute walk to daughter's house); excellent breakfasts, particularly the porridge; fun pub downstairs, loved a cappella rehearsal.

Property is well located for a jumping off point anywhere in the Lake District. We had a two bedroom for my wife, my son, and with a parking spot right in front of the door. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was plenty to get you going. The you lady working the desk/restaurant/bar is a joy.

Every member of staff that I dealt with was SO helpful and couldn't do enough to provide a great service. The room was spacious and clean, with lovely finishing touches. The setting is really beautiful - in the middle of the countryside and fields. The breakfast that was included was absolutely delicious.

The Lion Inn was one of the most charming Inn's I have stayed in. The rooms are charming- you approach yours as if it is your own little cottage. Inside, they are cheerful and bright and have the latest in sleeping accommodations and amenities.
The staff is so friendly and helpful.
The pub is wonderful, The cuisine is delicious and contemporary, and the servers are lovely and efficient.
The Inn is located near the Grade I church of St. Oswalds, -a two-minute walk away.
I stay there every...

Amazing staff; very helpful and kind and we cannot recommend them more.
Room was dated, but very clean and functional and honestly, it was exactly what we needed for two nights of hiking out into the canals and waterways.
Should we come through again, we would happily come back.
