"As the name and geographical location suggest, the Moorland Hotel in Wotter sits high on a beautiful stretch of Dartmoor. The industry rating is 3⭐ which is probably fair and accurate. (Go somewhere else if luxury’s your thing). But whatever it may not have is handsomely offset by the hotel’s affordability; its natural and effortless charm; its truly stunning location; the warm welcome and the top notch cuisine.
The Moorland is also host on Sunday nights to the famous Folk on the Moor Folk...
"The Waterwheel Inn was exceptional. We had a garden suite which opened straight out onto the amazing gardens and a small double room. Both were decorated nicely and kept clean. Breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory and was excellent with good choices and nice touches like home-made jams and granola. We ate in the restaurant for dinner several times and had great food every time. Staff were helpful whilst being unobtrusive. Our only suggestion is to advertise the vegan options better as...

"We stayed with Sharon and Steve while walking the Two Moors Way and they were brilliant from start to finish. They went above and beyond to look after us, nothing was too much trouble after a long day on the trail. The food was excellent, proper home-cooked breakfast that was exactly what we needed to refuel. Sharon and Steve are genuinely lovely hosts, warm, welcoming and easy to talk to. The location is great and we'd happily stay again and would recommend them to anyone passing through."
