Charming Riverside Retreat

Charming Riverside Retreat

10/10 Excellent
"This cabin is heaven for my husband and me. It's peaceful setting on the Smith River and comfortable, simple cabin appeal are perfect for us. The outdoor seating and dining area add to size and comfort of the experience. The cabin is extremely well appointed and supplies guests with lovely creature comforts. I truly enjoyed the Nespresso! Thank you so much for our THIRD stay. Looking forward to our fourth already. I hated to leave."

"Clean, spacious and private. Close to the trails for hiking in the Redwoods and swimming in the Smith River. We used the grill and the patio fire table as well as the various outdoor games in the shed. The kitchen well stocked, as well as the bathroom. Highly recommended!"

Riverfront Redwood Retreat Nestled in Nature

Riverfront Redwood Retreat Nestled in Nature

10/10 Excellent
"We love this house for yearly getaways with our grandkids and great grandkids. Lots of rooms and bathrooms, with a well stocked kitchen and a deck complete with BBQ and fire pit. We really appreciated the supply of wood and s'more forks. I never tire of sipping my coffee on the deck as the sun comes up, watching the mist rise on the Smith River."

"This is the second time we've stayed here. First floor bedroom works great for our 91 year old grandmother who struggles with stairs. The feeling of home encompasses the entire area as you drive in and enter the foyer. Love listening to the nature sounds right off the back deck and then sit around the fireplace in the driveway. Would highly recommend both the home and the hosts."

Golden Grove On the River! Amazing home above the Smith River.

Golden Grove On the River! Amazing home above the Smith River.

8/10 Good
"We had problems with the smoke detectors. Two kept beeping and we had to go buy batteries and replace them. The house was overall pretty clean and we enjoyed it. Our only bigger complaint was that one of the upstairs bedrooms/bonus room definitely has a pet smell to it."

Rollin on the River!

Rollin on the River!

10/10 Excellent
"Thanks for a wonderful few days on the Smith River! We loved the beautiful views and amazing location with The Grove of Titans practically in the back yard. No direct river access from the house which was a bummer but there are multiple access points just a few minutes away. This house is chock full of nostalgia and cool surprises like a great collection of VHS movies that we got to introduce our 3 kids to. Don’t mind the dated appliances, everything works just fine. We loved the quirky vibe, mix mashed dishes and eclectic decor. There were lots of extra blankets and pillows, a kitchen stocked with cooking supplies, and plenty of space for our family of 5 to spread out. Our kids loved the pool table and back porches. Check out Hiouchi Hamlet or Gasquet Market just a few miles down or up the road for essential groceries - no need to drive into Crescent City (which you might want to avoid anyway, it’s pretty depressing). Hiouchi Cafe is a hidden gem for a delicious breakfast or lunch, but for dinner you’re out of luck. Only thing I did not love was the minimal communication ahead of check-in. By 10 am the day of we hadn’t heard anything since booking months before. So we checked in with the property manager and got a prompt reply that the info with instructions on how to access the property would come in at 1200, which it did. Overall an amazing stay, we absolutely loved it and it was a great way to close out our NorCal vacation."

'Elve Huset' (Norwegian River House)

'Elve Huset' (Norwegian River House)

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at this unique cabin, nestled on a beautiful piece of property right next to the river. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our time there. One of our favorite touches was the collection of personal notes the owner left throughout the cabin, sharing the stories and history behind the many interesting items he had collected over the years. It made the stay feel especially personal and added so much character to an already special place."
