We would definitely stay at the Loopy Shrew again. Great value for money. Our room and bathroom were very clean, quiet and comfortable. We heard nothing from the pub below. The location is great, with very short walks to beautiful areas of town. There was a lovely array of breakfast choices included for free with the room charge; we had vegetarian eggs Benedict, coffee/tea & juice. Our main suggestion is to provide a standing fan on warmer evenings. Also, the comfy duvet was just too hot so a plain sheet would have been great.

A great central location in a lively pub with great staff and food. The room itself is looking a bit tired and needs a refresh and a good carpet clean but was a good size and bed was comfortable.

Central location. Needed to get here to go on rail line. Beautiful town, lovely walks and historic buildings

This is a lovely hotel! The restaurant has excellent food along with great atmosphere. Our room was great & the bed was very comfortable. The only regret we had was the fact we had to check out early the next morning & couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back!

Lovely room above a lively bar

Nice clean room with a good selection of tea and coffee, miniature toiletries in the bathroom and a comfy bed. Lovely breakfast with good options for vegetarian and vegan diets. It is a bar with rooms above so just be aware that especially if staying fri or sat night it is going to be noisy. (They do provide complimentary ear plugs!)

The stay was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. Amazing food and the breakfast was second to none. The rooms were clean with good water pressure for showering. Some rooms were small but that’s just picking holes

The location, food and service were all good however the accommodation and room were dated and in need of refurbishment also there is excessive noise transfer from the bar into the room which at times made it hard to relax.

what amazing staff, so friendly and approachable,that alone would make me come back. food was great and i ate what was recommended by the staff! room was a wee bit noisy but i am old and an early bedder. was quiet by 11pm. well worth the visit
