The Coffee House sits just off The Square, nestled in the quiet meandering streets of the medieval market town of Shrewsbury, adjacent to the ancient "shut" Coffee House Passage.
The town-centre location is very convenient but also quiet, with the very rare bonus of free secure car parking too.
Like the surrounding streets, The Coffee House is steeped in history, with its name being traced back to when the building housed an 18th century coffee shop where wool traders gathered to strike deals.
Whether arriving on foot or by car, we recommend using What3Words. The What3Words reference for the Coffee House is: Prom.Bank.Toast.
If you prefer to use GoogleMaps, use "13b College Hill" which will bring you close. Once at this location, you should see the Coffee House which is a red-brick building on the corner of Coffee House Passage. The Coffee House's garage is behind the green garage door to the right of the front door (as you look at it from the street).
If you are using a sat-nav, it may bring you over Kingsland Bridge which requires a 20p toll (cash only). To avoid this, select "toll-free" in your sat-nav or phone settings.
If arriving by train, The Coffee House is approx 10-12min walk from Shrewsbury Station. Use the above instructions to guide you in. Taxis are available at Shrewsbury Station if you prefer not to walk.
PLEASE NOTE: There are double yellow lines on College Hill outside the property. Do not worry, you are allowed to stop for the purposes of "loading" - just tuck in as much as you can and traffic can pass. There are some restrictions on this, however, and there is "no loading" between the hours of 08.15-09.15 and 16.00-18.00 Monday - Saturday.
PARKING:
The Coffee House has a small garage which is available for guests' exclusive use. PLEASE NOTE THE GARAGE IS ONLY BIG ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE ONE SMALL VEHICLE. The dimensions of the garage opening are: 2150x2000mm. The garage is a snug fit, and so you will need to be confident at reverse bay parking in order to use it. Please contact us if you are unsure whether your vehicle will fit. Estate cars, SUVs, and vans will be too large.
It is recommended that you park in reverse, and please be careful when reversing in to ensure you do not damage the garage or your vehicle! Turning the lights on in the garage before attempting to park is highly recommended. The garage is immediately to the right of the front door as you look at it from the street. Use of the garage is entirely at your own risk, and we will not accept any responsibility for any damage to your vehicle howsoever caused when using the garage.
If you do not want to use the garage, or if you have more than one vehicle, there is plenty of paid on-street parking nearby. The closest parking is on College Hill and Princess Street - this is short stay and charged hourly. For longer stays, cheaper parking is available on Kingsland Bridge (3min walk away @ £5/day), and St Chad's Church (3min walk away @ £8/day). Generally, most on-street and council operated parking is free from 6pm-6am, and in some cases also on Sundays.
