"I booked a King suite with a Mountain View. It was incredibly comfortable. I loved the tall windows. There is a ball field just across the way and office buildings, etc, so bear that in mind when you think “mountain view”. "Although the room was clean, it was stale. The carpet had stains and really needed replacing. The water pressure was good. I would have preferred a hand held shower head. I was not fond of the pillows. The bathroom was emaculate. We did have daily room refresh. Our housekeeper did super work and that is most important, however, she literally could not speak a word of English. The property is pet friendly and we had to listen to a yeppy lonely pup. "This is a gem of the National Park Service, not so much for its rooms which are clean but basic, but for the incredibly lovely surroundings. The lake has a paved path around it, the sounds of birds fill your ears as soon as you open your patio or balcony door, and the lovely vistas of lake, trees, and mountains are so totally calming and relaxing. It’s about 12 miles from Bedford, VA and the amazing National D-Day Museum, on an easy but winding road in the Blue Ridge Mts. "
