FX Hotel is a 5min walk to the metro station (Line 4, Shanghai Stadium stop) and Shanghai Stadium. The place is relatively clean and quiet. There's plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance (there's a McDonald's and a FamilyMart right across the street). A great place to stay for convenience.

Convenient location for a great deal.
This place is convenient for the subway, the taxi and the morning jianbing, but it does have a seedy feel. Upon entering the room hooker cards are slipped under the door and the shower head kept breaking. It’s very Chinese so you won’t have English tv, but for a room a crash in walking distance to easy transport and guaranteed cleanliness - you can’t beat it! This is our usual go to for a quick night in Shanghai. It’s about 60 yuan to Hongqiao railway and airport and around 150 to Pudong.

Disinterested staff and unhelpful - when asked for directions, the man obviously look pissed. Horrible. The room too small for a "business" type of room, feels like a scam tbh. They put a office desk and a chair there to make it look business room but its a studio type of room in reality. Bad to zero wifi connection, I rely on my own phone data to get connected.

Good for cheap and convenient business stay
The infrastructure could be improved. Certain staff is not friendly, but not all of them. Transportation is quite convenient as it locates at a commercial area with shopping malls around. No worry about dining.

Great location, but poorly maintained
Its located right next to line 4 station, you can't get any more convenient than that. The shower floor trap wasn't clear, so the toilet shower flooded when I showered. The TV is now modernised, but difficult to use the system unless you are a local. The floor tiling also was worn out.

An excellent stay!
There are several FX Hotels in Shanghai. This review is for the one on subway line 4 on Xietu rd. This friendly and clean hotel is located directly across from exit 4 of the Shanghai Stadium station. Most of the front desk The staff speaks reasonably good English. They are helpful and friendly. This is a perfect spot for the business traveler or the family traveling on a shoestring. At about $50USD, it’s hard to beat. The room pros-clean and tidy. Includes a desk and a small closet. It’s relatively quiet at night. Comfy bed and pillows. Nice glass enclosed shower with decent water pressure. Cons- the room is small but perfect for one or two. There’s no dresser to put clothes in or even a stand to set your suitcase on. I couldn’t get the tv to work but, in fairness, I didn’t ask for help. Location- I found the location directly across from a pretty great shopping mall in which the subway is also housed very convenient. The mall has a many restaurants for every taste as well as a McDonald’s. There’s also a phamacy and grocery store there. You can change money around the corner from the hotel at the friendly Shanghai bank. All in all, was very pleased.

Actually a great hotel, location is meh
I really enjoyed this hotel. It has a luxurious feel and is very affordable. My room was very spacious and clean. The only qualm i have is the location as I always see myself always needing to transfer subways (I move around a lot). However, this may not be an issue for some people. The front desk was mostly nice -- they were able to communicate in English and weren't rude as other reviews had mention. The hotel is beside a convenience store and a mall.

Good location, reasonably clean
The subway stop for Shanghai Stadium is a mere 5 minute walk always (use exit 3), making this location very convenient for getting around Shanghai. Subway, Starbucks, Paris Baguette, Cafe Bene, and many other foreign and Chinese eateries are close by, as well. A 24 hour Family Mart - a small convenience store - is just across the street. That said, the hotel reeked of cigarette smoke nearly the entire time we were there. We had a non-smoking room, and I realize this is an occupational hazard that comes with living in China, but it was still foul to have that ever-present stench hovering in the air. The rooms are small but fine; our toilet dripped constantly and the refrigerator is barely cook (not suitable to store food in), but it was a reasonably comfortable stay.

Good basic hotel.
I came to Shanghai for an exhibition, so this was a good fit for location, and budget. The staff was very helpful, even they're English was limited. This is the downtown part of Shanghai, and not near any tourist area. Taxi had a tough time finding the hotel as the street have many different sections to it.

I had a very warm welcome on arriving in the afternoon by Mandy and she speaks better english than other staffs. the rooms size was ok and bed king size as required. while trying to add 2 more days to my stay i had to do it online via hotels. as could not have the same quote. i rarely book for single rooms and was given this type so had to pay an additional 98 RMB to keep the previous room.few days before check out i asked for a late check out as my flight was only at 10.30pm and on the very day of check out i asked again for a check out at 6pm. first i was said ok for free then a second lady came and told me i had to pay additional 168 RMB for late check out. so this really gave me a bad mood for my last day. Also they did not see that i had pay a deposit of 200 RMB so keep your receipts.(they don't accept Amex)in the rooms for tea service only one green and black tea sachet. no sugar no milk. i've been to lower stars hotel and they do give it , even in Furama Singapore few years back they do give it . So where is the standard. thankful to the grey haired man who welcomed me and Mandy. joining the membership for FX??

Dollar for dollar, it's a good hotel.
The hotel is situated in a very nice neighbor, with easy access to all public transportation. Metro station across the street allows you a quick and easy ride to all points of interests around the city. You can also take a bus across the street to the trendiest part of the city where bars, night clubs and restaurants open until early hours in the morning in just 20 minutes. Around the hotel, there are coffee shops ,bakeries, restaurants, ice cream parlor and a famous dumpling house. One thing keep in mind, all the public transportation stop running around midnight, taxi will be the only form of transportation. I found the cabbies were honest and trustworthy, they know their ways around the city.

Fantastic location
The hotel is conveniently located across the road from subway exit 4. The room I was provided look rather tired and could do with a decent touch up, the bed itself was comfortable ... however the inner duvet could have been cleaner. The kettle in my room looked rather old and crusty with some dodgy electrical cabling exposed. Although Management was quick to fix whatever issues i had like the non-working safe, internet connection issue, blown lightbulb, loose tv power cable and replacing the broken fridge... I felt like those minor issues shouldn't have existed in the first place. It would pay to check the towels they provide before usage as i had one that was quite frayed and had a yellow-ish stain and lipstick smeared on it. Despite some of the negatives i would stay here again because of its location to the subway and the fact it is surrounded by some good places to eat like sushi express, a decent cafe in the mall and the pirate restaurant that actually served fantastic food despite looking rather tacky.

Decent Stay, Excellent Price for Location
This hotel is super convenient to the subway (line 4) and a bunch of restaurants and shopping, which is why we chose this hotel in the first place. The hotel is clean, convenient and a good price for the location and amenities. The internet was fast, although there was some odd construction going on in the hotel around 9pm and the walls were a bit thin so the early morning party-goers in the hall seemed like they were in the room. All in all, a good hotel for price, location and cleanliness.

In shanghai for work and this hotel was very well located, close to the metro and main shopping areas. Internet connection was great. All in all a solid hotel for biz travelers. But the room condition was a bit weary, maybe because of the traffic the hotel handles.

Comfy and unique!
Very interesting hotel! It has a great location right across the street from the Shanghai Stadium stop. The bed is very comfortable and not at all like most beds in Shanghai hotels. Very enjoyable two days at a great price!
