"Set in stunning grounds I wasn’t sure what to expect from the interior. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The spa is very nice the changing rooms were adequate you need £1 coin for the locker but the pool and treatment rooms were very nice. The sun loungers were a little tired and worn and they are very close to the ground so getting in and off them can be somewhat tricky. Very pleasantly surprised by the food in the restaurant, very good and staff in all areas were friendly and engaging. "

"On trying to check in we were asked to pay again as the payment to Hotels.com did not show on their system. I produced our receipt for payment and was told I would have to wait until after 4pm when the manager came on duty. We were also informed they no longer do breakfast although it was included in our booking. I was told the price for the room had been reduced to reflect this and that I would need to claim the difference from Hotels.com. The room was ok and the location was fine for our visit to a concert at the abbey. "

"Room was clean, but hardly any storage or hanging space. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Room very nojsy at night with passing traffic. Buffet style breakfast, but no hot food. Not enough bowls for cereal, or cups for brews. Okay for a weekend away, but any longer you'll be struggling to keep your clothes tidy."

"Becca and Tony made us feel very welcome, both before arrival and during our stay. The lodge was very comfortable and well equipped. Some of the automatic, sensor lights seemed to take a bit of working out with some switches not in an obvious place.Tip: Take or buy a rubber mat for the shower rooms, especially if mobility is an issue.Very quiet and dark at night."

"A gorgeous little place with even lovelier owners. Nothing was too much trouble. Our dog loved it. Beds were lovely and comfy. Everything well equipped. In a great location - easy to find and easy access to York centre. Will definitely return when we visit York again."
