The only downside was that even the parking is free, they shut down the parking from 12 am till 6, meaning, if you are coming late from a party, you have to park outside risking getting a ticket, or if something urgent happened at night and you needed to take your car out, you can’t."

"The guy on the reception in the late evening with the hair tied back was great, sadly I didn't catch his name. Very helpful with suggesting where to park the car with a disabled badge. He went out of his way to be helpful. The guy on the bar was also very friendly too. Between the two of them they restored my faith in Germany after a few bad experiences elsewhere earlier in the day. We'll absolutely be staying at the Mercure next time we're in Duisburg."
