A large adult timber rattlesnake sunning in some tall grass that picked up its head for a better look at me which is the only reason I spotted it. I rarely see this behavior as timber rattlers would rather remain silent, still and out of sight. This one seemed to be guarding something so I took a few shots and retreated.

"We loved our stay! We had a large group and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. The hot tub is very large and half of it is a jetted swim area which was cool. We loved sitting in the hottub and looking out at the views. We made all of our meals at the house and the kitchen was well-stocked. We would absolutely stay here again. "
