Billesley Manor Hotel & Spa, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

"Overall, our stay was pleasant, but the check-in experience and spa facilities were disappointing. At check-in, we were asked if we had stayed before. When we said no, we were simply handed a room key and told our room number. As the hotel is spread across multiple buildings, we then had to ask where our room was, where the spa and pool were located, and where to find the restaurant. None of this information was offered proactively. The room key card included a QR code, which we assumed would provide useful guest information such as Wi-Fi details, room service menus, or hotel facilities. Instead, it linked to the Marriott app, which contained very little useful information. We couldn’t find room service information in the app, on the website, or in the room. When I asked reception, I was told it was available on the TV. After trying unsuccessfully to find it there, I called reception and a paper menu was eventually brought to the room. By then, we had already decided to eat elsewhere. The spa facilities were also disappointing for a hotel of this size. The dry sauna seats only three to four people and the steam room around four. In addition, many of the loungers around the pool appeared poorly maintained, with the fabric covers heavily stained and blackened in places, which looked unhygienic. The hotel has potential, but better communication, clearer guest information, and improved maintenance of the spa area would significantly improve the experience."

"What can we say that hasn't been said before? Everything was absolutely top drawer! Attention to detail, beautiful and convenient location, imaculate, comfortable bed and great shower water pressure. We would definitely return, when/if in the area again."

"The track leading to the cottage is bumpy and full of potholes, checking in was easy - just a case of opening the key safe.First impressions were that it was as advertised (albeit slightly smaller than envisaged) with everything that you would need for a short break. However as our stay continued we noticed several issues:General maintenance of the building is poor, it needs painting internally throughout, the wooden panel under the oven door needs replacing, both the bathroom window (unable to open) and the french doors (very difficult to open) leading to the hot tub had visible gaps at the top of the frames. I think it should be closed for a week or so and refurbished. There were broken tiles next to the shower enclosure in the bathroom, the shower door had large gaps either side, we were unable to work out how to operate the smaller hand held shower head and water barely dribbled out of the larger 'rainfall' style one.Regarding the bedrooms I would get rid of the scatter cushions and sequined bed runners - both are unhygienic. We found the mattresses and pillows hard and the duvets heavy but then that is personal choice.Daylight floods the property first thing due to poorly fitting / no curtains.Small drain in the floor in the lounge?Too many 'nick nacks' (dress makers mannequin, bowls on windowsills etc.) Hot tub was great although there was quite a lot of traffic noise from the A3400 which proved difficult to pull out onto as the cars are doing 50mph."

"Electric tripped out constantly.So had no heating either.in the early hours on our second night,we woke to find a fire engine outside,tending to a fire in the cottage connected to ours.Which turned out to be electrical.Not impressed at all.Cottage and hot tub were nice when the power was on."

"This was a perfect location for us, halfway between us and family we were meeting up with. It was easy to find and it was good that there were a few pubs and villages close by. The house was really tastefullly decorated and furnished, and the ensuite bathrooms were spacious and modern and were a great find for us. The back garden was enclosed with plenty of room for the dogs to runaround in, and had plenty of furniture to sit and enjoy food and drink outside. And even though the hot tub was across the courtyard it still felt quite private. The hosts were very friendly and sorted out any minor issues straight away for us. We'd definitely stay here again."
