"This is a modern 1 bedroom cottage in a quiet and remote setting, about a 10 minute walk into the village of Lund. The kitchen is easily the best and most well-supplied we have ever experienced. It has a large fridge, gas oven/stove, toaster oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, Keurig Coffee machine with pods, two kettles, along with quality cookware and knives, There were a variety of pot and pans, baking dishes, serving platters and even a sharp pair of scissors. Admittedly, it is much nicer than the kitchen we have at home. The back deck includes a gas BBQ, gas firepit and a large clean hot tub that was very easy to use. The comfortable deck chairs had covers to avoid dew/condensation. We took advantage of the firepit and the hot tub almost every night we were there. We did have a minor issue with the TV/Netflix but the host rectified the issue in about 10 minutes. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place in a remote location where you can be on your own and with a great kitchen, we strongly recommend Bayside Cottage."
Cortes Beachfront Home w/Hot Tub & Kayak on 5 Wooded Acres
8/10 Good
"If you are looking for a quiet getaway on a remote island, but still want all the comforts of home, Sue's Cortes Beachfront Home is a perfect place to stay. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable and the view was fantastic. The Beach Home is a nice balance between rustic and comfortable convenience. The driveway is a little hard to see when you first drive by, but follow Sue's directions and you'll be fine. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, which was really handy since there are very few places to go out for a meal on Cortes. If you are staying for more than a couple nights, I'd say come prepared to make your own meals; there is a BBQ on the deck as well. The living area was relaxing and the internet worked just fine. The highlight for me was the record player! I didn't expect that. Yes, a functional turntable with good speakers and an eclectic selection of LP's. (Elvis, Tom Jones, Tijuana Brass etc.) Outside, the deck is big and offers a beautiful view of the inlet. The Hot Tub is on the deck and is very very nice as you can enjoy the view right from the tub. However, we did have one unfortunate incident. When removing the Hot Tub cover, I leaned it up against the deck rail. A wind came up and blew the cover right down on my wife's head while she was in the tub. She was stunned and sore, but okay. So, lean the cover up against the house! Also, bring flip flops for the deck, my wife got a big sliver from walking in bare feet."
The Garden House - Unique spacious stay in Whaletown
8/10 Good
"The hosts were very friendly, helpful and had great communication. The property was very clean and beautifully rustic. Just a heads up for those travelling with more than two people and those that value privacy- the bathroom doesn’t have an actual door (just separated by curtain) nor does the bedroom. No fault of the hosts just something we had to get used to as four adults. The toilet will take some getting used to with the flushing but we had no problems. Just has to be diligent with the tissue paper in the garbage. The kitchen was beautifully stocked with a gorgeous table and stove."
"Lovely, clean studio suite in a converted garage space with enough room for two or three people. Stocked kitchen. Soaker tub. Very responsive and friendly hosts. We spent four nights here and appreciated the surprise gift of warm, homemade sour dough bread one morning. Excellent location to explore Desolation Sound by boat. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay again."
"Beautiful spot! Extremely quiet, just what the doctor ordered. The property was exactly as advertised, and just a stones throw from Lund, short drive for major grocery shops in Powell River. Check out Diver's Rock Regional Park while you're there! Small, secluded area not far from the property. I was fortunate enough to see seals and sea lions swimming by! A myriad of birds, too. Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Herons Eagles, Ravens and many more. If you need some quiet time, would definitely reccommend!"
