"It was a great place to stay with free parking , in house pub , gym ( requires extra payment), swimming pool( also requires payment over the room charges). Rooms were big, comfortable, with comfortable beds, Wi-Fi, TV , and a great shower. All in all if you are not looking for extreme refinement it is a great place to stay"

"Very pleasant and peaceful location, overlooking countryside. Large grounds with a public footpath to the village or the Thames and lakes nearby. All of the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Good base for visiting National Trust and Historic Houses properties. Booking with hotels.com included breakfast. I would have liked to have had a package which included dinner. A fridge in the large superior room would have been nice since the cold water tap rarely gave anything near cold but the bar staff kindly filled my water bottles. Nice comfortable king-size bed and great view from the window, albeit with the swimming pool skylight outside."

"Our room at chequers was really big extra large bed really cosy bathroom had a bath and shower some what hard to get out of the bath as the handrails were in a awkward place on the bath . On first impressions of the hotel was really nice until you look a little closer some of the furniture in the reception area could be updated as the leather on the arms of the chairs were really badly worn and that's the first thing you see when you walk through the hotel reception area . But on the whole a great place to stay good walk up to the town lots of great pubs for meals and drinks . Ample parking for the car"
