6/10 Okay

"Property is clean enough but quite dated. Service was ok, but only ok and opportunities to offer better services were missed often. Breakfast ‘tray’ was a Tesco bag dumped on our table (not in the fridge)with basic white sliced supermarket bread, butter, jam and OJ with a four pint of milk, which is as described but not exciting and as it wasn’t put in the fridge not great with the heat. It was delivered after 9am so too late to be of any actual is for us sadly. This needs 24 hr notice to get so if you don’t prebook it before you arrive it isn’t possible. The grounds are lovely as are the views, and it is nice and quiet. The pool can only be used in times they are not blocked for members only, There was nothing to be very upset about in this place, but very little to be excited about either. There is great opportunity for the owners here to make it amazing due to the superb location."

"This is such a stunning hotel. It’s our 3rd time staying and we can’t wait to come back. We’re both vegan and I’m GF and the food is fantastic. They also have noseco which was fab. We absolutely love the spa so the facilities really do give it that extra edge."

The Midland

"We were really looking forward to staying at the iconic Midland Hotel in Morecambe. It was easy to find with plenty of free parking. It looked wonderful in a beautiful situation right by the sea. Our check in experience wasn't great - the girl who did it was aloof, officious and unfriendly; she didn't smile once. However, this was the only downside to our stay. The interior of the hotel is beautiful. Our room was amazing, large and bright - it had 3 windows, all with great views. The big bed was very comfortable. We liked the shower room with its fluffy white towels. We dined at the hotel. Our waiter was lovely, very friendly, helpful and polite. We both enjoyed our meals. However, during the heatwave, it was too hot to sit in the usual dining area in the sun room overlooking the sea, so most people were in the small dining area inside. We thought some fans would have been a good idea to cool it down. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice for the continental breakfast and also for the English breakfast, very well cooked and presented. Also, the dining room had cooled down by morning, so we enjoyed overlooking the sea whilst eating. The head waiter was excellent, very welcoming and informative. All the waiters were great too. If not for the off-putting poor reception, we would probably have given 5 stars all round."

"My children had food from hotel both vomiting my daughter was very sick could no breath went dizzy blurry vision bathroom wall was hanging off bath was cracked there was stains all over the bad Poo on wall pool was to hot shower was not good pool was not clear u gave to pay for pool 5 pounds per hour per person no entertainment food was bad an expensive my kids were very ill"

Strathmore Hotel

"We had no room service eg change of towels. Also never came in to change the bin. We had to keep asking for things. Carpet syained, walls all marked. Windows bad, couldnt close one. An absolute nightmare."

Beech Hill Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"The location is the big selling point; views over the lake are exceptional. The menu has a good choice, but doesn't vary from day-to-day. That could become an issue for a longer stay, but if it looks good on the menu, it will be good when it's served. The location sold it, but the staff made the trip exceptional. They really made us feel like ensuring we enjoyed our stay was their personal mission. There is a fitness note; I'm admittedly out of shape, and retirement age, but I found the stairs to be almost too much at times. The climb from our suite to the bar/restaurant left me out of breath for a couple of minutes."

"Very good clean hotel. Staff brilliant. Very good food. Hotel in a good position close to town. Car parking with Tram and bus stops very close by. Well worth the money"
