A Mountain Rose, near APPLE HILL, wine, Jenkinson LAKE, swim, snow, FUN! EVs

A Mountain Rose is a cozy, two bedroom home in the magnificent pines and cedars of Pollock Pines in the Sierra Mountains. The trees are bountiful, and their smells are relaxing and refreshing! We do allow up to 2 well-behaved pets with prior approval & extra pet fees. (We abide by El Dorado County's Vacation Home Rental laws. Permit # VHR072381 & TOT#T48436)

4 guests, BUT if you have children under 6 yrs, they don't count in the guest total.

You may charge your Electrical Vehicle with prior approval. We charge $30. (240 volt 50amp, 14-50 outlet)

Our home is located two miles from Hwy 50 and about 50 miles from both Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. Just a quick drive to the famous Apple Hill area or Placerville.

Our little house in the woods is a great place for a romantic getaway, families, or friends. It is decorated in a fashion to make everyone's stay feel extra special. It's not like a musty old cabin in the woods. Our hardwood floors help to make our home even more charming. We have complimentary WIFI for those who just can't leave technology at home. We consider long-term rentals. Please come and enjoy the relaxation and smells of the pines after a day of adventure and fun!

Our well-stocked kitchen is a delight to prepare meals for family and friends. You may enjoy eating at our breakfast bar or at our dining room table that may be extended for larger groups. Maybe you would enjoy BBQing and eating outside instead? There are tables both in the front and backyards. It is so relaxing to eat and chat outside.

We have a wonderful cozy fireplace to warm you up, or you may want to venture outside and enjoy our fire pit and gaze into the night sky to check out the stars. You may want to roast marshmallows and make delicious s'mores! A Mountain Rose is like camping in luxury!

At A Mountain Rose, we have many activities for the family, including an array of board games, croquet, air hockey, and even a ping-pong table. We have a smart TV and offer many DVDs for your enjoyment. Just a short walk away, there is a great playground & disc golf course. There is something to keep everyone busy!

Nearby is the very popular Sly Park Recreation Area with the beautiful Jenkinson Lake. It has 645 acres of surface water and great fishing opportunities. The lake has a boat launch and a boat rental facility. (Kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, and row boats) Of course, if you want to bring your own boat, we have plenty of parking. Swimming and water skiing are allowed, but personal water crafts are not. In the winter, you may go snow shoeing, sledding, or just play in the snow. It's just a spectacular setting for many outdoor activities!

For the Apple Hill (Camino) lovers, we are less than ten miles from this special area! In April, there is the Apple Blossom Festival. In the summer, there is the cherry and berry harvest. In the fall months, the traditional harvest season is in full swing. You can enjoy the cornucopia of fruits, ciders, vegetables, wines, baked goods, and homemade preserves. Of course, in winter, you can start your own family traditions as you cut down your own Christmas tree and enjoy the magic in the air! Oh, I forgot, you may want to visit a local winery and bring some back to enjoy!

Do you love snow skiing? Then, you'll be glad to hear that we're about 35 miles from Sierra at Tahoe or about 50 miles from Heavenly Mountain Resort.

We are about 15 miles from the charming historical 'Gold Rush' town of Placerville. It is a peaceful blend of old and new that offers something for everyone. There is a lot to do, and you can easily spend the day exploring the area.

If you're into gambling, then Red Hawk Casino is about 20 miles away. They have slot machines, gambling tables, restaurants, and entertainment.

There is so much to do! Of course, you can just sit on the front deck, relax, and enjoy a book and your favorite beverage!!!!

Everything was as expected. Very clean and everything was well labeled. We have family and friends in the area and would have liked to have them stop by. There is a no guests policy at this property.

Everything we needed, kitchen was fully stocked and labeled. Host was very easy to contact when we had questions. Could use new pillows and cotton sheets instead of polyester. Several of us were allergic to the laundry detergent, maybe a free and clear kind next time. The yard was perfect for our two dogs. We even got unexpected snow which the kids loved.

This is a very comfortable house for two couples (2BR/1Ba) with a well-stocked kitchen. We stayed here 3 nights while day hiking in the El Dorado National Forest. Quite close to a Safeway and a couple of good restaurants in Pollock Pines. Good, direct communication with the owner before/during/after our stay. Would not hesitate to stay again and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in this area.

Very cozy little place. We stayed here for a little over a month and not only does this place come fully equipped with everything you could possibly need but it just had a real comfortable you're right at home feeling. I also love the open fireplace. It gave such a peaceful ambience. Wonderful place to stay.

We made a mid-week trip here for the first time from Napa and had a lovely time! Catherine the host was always available and helpful in getting our bearings. The community amenities and Sly Park Recreation area are very convenient. Home was very clean and cozy, with all the wares you need in the kitchen. If you're a movie buff, there is also a vast DVD collection to sift through. We'll be back.

Clean, very well stocked, modern with a traditional and homey feeling. Loved the large fenced in yard for our dogs and the proximity to great dog-friendly hiking. Owner responsive but no issues requiring help. In the woods but close to Safeway and restaurants. Near Rt. 50 but quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again.

My husband and I and my eldest daughter (an adult) stayed at this lovely home for two nights. It is a beautifully furnished home with lots of outdoor relaxing areas for seating and/or dining. It was a perfect place for our two dogs to stay with us, as it has an enclosed backyard and areas where they can be with the family, but also the option to be managed in just a couple of rooms (kitchen and garage leading to the outdoor patio.) The house is beautifully equipped for gourmet cooking and for entertaining. We had family members over during the day (one 21 month old, a ten year old, and 3 adults). We loved the toys for toddlers and the supply of games nicely kept in the closet for guests to use. There were lovely games to play in the garage as well: ping-pong, foosball, etc. The baby girl loved the little car and toys for playing outside. The property is immaculately clean and welcoming. I hope to return sometime soon to this lovely vacation spot in the forest.

It was perfect. Very relaxing. Perfect location for days at Jenkinson Lake. Lazy days at the pool, and close to groceries. Catherine was kind and helpful. The nightly ping pong tournaments between the teen boys were epic. We all can't wait to come back again next summer. When your teenage son tells you it' was a "W" vacation, you know it's great.

From the start, the owner was so pleasant and easy to work with. She was super responsive and very kind. The home is adorable! Very clean and very well taken care of! This was a weekend getaway for my husband and I. We fished by day and relaxed by night. We even challenged each other in some foosball and table tennis! Overall, it was an excellent experience and we will be back for sure!

We had such a wonderful time resting and relaxing at A Mountain Rose! The house was clean and the kitchen fully stocked with kitchen ware and appliances. The house has everything that you need. We enjoyed the cozy wood fireplace while catching up on some reading. A short drive to Placerville was a fun trip! Catherine is such a gracious hostess, we are looking forward to the next trip.

We wanted a base for a weekend of snow play and it was perfect. There's not much snow at this level which was what we wanted. Just a short drive to deep snow or ski resorts. The owner is very attentive and the home is very well appointed. It has everything you will need. It was cozy and comfy snd we would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at A Mountain Rose! The house was stocked full of fun things for our whole family to do. Our 8 & 12 year old loved the garage filled with ping pong, fooseball, and air hockey. Our 3 year old loved the closet full of blocks, Little People, Mr. Potatohead and coloring supplies. Us adults loved the fully stocked kitchen, comfy bed and huge DVD selection. We also enjoyed being so close to the lake! Lifelong memories were made!!!

We stayed at mountain ranch for my wife's birthday to get away from the city and unplug; maybe visit Apple Hill for a bit too. There were 4 of us; we have 2 early teenage boys. Unplugging there is easy. The neighborhood is super quiet, and the house was very warm and inviting; and my wife mentioned several times how cozy she felt there. Mtn rose is a home away from home and has plenty of everything you'd find in your own home - whenever we wished we had something, boom, we found it. Things you don't even think of like cooking pans, whisks, napkins, s&p shakers, cooking spray, portable heaters, etc. Its all there - I felt like the owners had thought of everything (took a while to locate the trash bags, but we didn't look in the can bottom for extras). The kids and I LOVED the ping pong table in the garage. It also had a pool table and air hockey table, which we didn't use, and also snow sledding equipment, frisbees, tennis racquets, and even one of those "child safety plastic stands" with the flags for nearby drivers. We didn't even get to the extensive DVD collection there for kids and grown ups - a nice perk. The owner tells me that the community has a pool and a frisbee golf course too - we didn't see where to access that... maybe that can be more apparent in the documentation somehow; but the rooms had binders and guides in intuitive places. The guides were complete on how to operate everything. Very easy. The light switches are labeled to what they turn on/off, which helped a lot. The owners were easy to contact if something went awry, but nothing did. The only real drawback we had - and its not really something you can change easily about Mountain rose - was the fact that there was only one bathroom. 4 grown people sharing that one bathroom was pretty difficult at times; especially if one was using the shower (tempered glass walls, so no one else could use the facilities). My wife also had hoped that there would be a bathtub, but the bathroom is too small for that. In fact, that was the feeling we got from most of the house. It has everything, but it felt a little "packed", as in, there was not much space to move around to squeeze past another person in the hall, around furniture, etc. Overall, it was a great, quiet place to stay. Despite the very small shortcomings, I think we would stay here again for its convenience of location and its inclusivity of all amenities you would need for a quiet weekend away to unplug. Enjoy!

What a beautiful home! It was so beautiful clean and tidy! We loved our stay came a little late in the year can’t wait to go back up earlier and stay longer. The owner was very attentive to all of our needs and super easy to contact. I wish they were all like this it would make my decisions easier. Some very nice restaurants nearby. Plus a Safeway very close.
