"We absolutely LOVED staying at Casa do Vale Cerdeiras. While the property is off the beaten path, it's exactly what we wanted. A little bit of Portugal rural flavor with the luxury amenities of a 5 star property, gorgeous views, en-suite bathrooms in each room, comfy beds and bedding and a self contained air conditioning unit in each bedroom. The house itself was very well stocked with loads of dishes, utensils, outdoor grill and a beautiful outdoor dining table where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset dinner. Victor, the host was welcoming and very lovely! He waited for us at the property when we arrived, showed us around and answered any questions we might have. A chilled bottle of wine was waiting for us in the refrigerator :-) The restaurants / wineries we visited were at least 20-25 minutes away, so you will need a car. However, each meal was delicious and the restaurant Victor recommend (Tasquinha do fumo) was a hidden gem. The house is a 10 min drive from the Mosteiro train stop and about an hour drive from the Arouca Geo park. Thanks so much for the memories - we will be back! "

"Could really not fault the staff or any part of the hotel. Very genuinely friendly staff on arrival, breakfast, and any other time needed. Hotel renovation has been done to very high standard, incorporating many parts of the old monastery. (Make sure you take in the monastery museum connected, so you can see the before and after) The outside pool is just wonderful (with the right weather). It's big enough to have a proper swim, but you're still able to stand in the deep end. Again, friendly staff at the pool side bar with drinks and food available. Indoor pool and sauna are great, and again, very high standard to the finish. Some may say the location is just a bit far from anywhere, but I think this is the point of this hotel. It's about getting away from it all and just relaxing. Certainly would recommend and would return. At the moment, as it only opened a few months ago (April 2025), it's still a Hidden Gem."

"I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. At check-in, I was thoughtfully greeted and allowed to retreat to my room well over 3 hours early. Reception encouraged me to get some rest when I mentioned I was quite tired, and that they’d be happy to give me a tour once rested if this was my preference. This considerate gesture was just one of MANY positive experiences with this lovely staff. From an interior design standpoint, I found the hotel well curated with special details like beautiful dinnerware from Costa Nova and materials that reflected the natural environment. Everything felt quite serene. Even the thought to plant rosemary in the gardens added a special touch; When out by the pool in the afternoon sun it smelled only of herbs and the effect was just so unique given the wine and the vineyards that surround the hotel. The food, too, was excellent. From Caesar salads with quail eggs, as an example, everything had just a little something extra. The breakfast buffet also had expansive offerings including local, hand-made pastries. And with respect to the facilities, I wanted for nothing and enjoyed the spa and pool very much, including the fact that the spa had “children free” hours for those of us looking for those relaxing quiet hours. I can’t wait to return with friends. There was so much more to do and see and my short weekend trip was not nearly sufficient. Further, it was so easy to get to! Obrigada!"

"What can I say about this hotel it’s set in the beautiful Douro valley on the river front surrounded by the mountains, in Porto Antigo, the staff are very friendly and helpful the bar is well stocked and the food is very good. We would definitely recommend it and will return in the future. "

"Fabulous hotel - almost Belmond but not quite. Rooms are excellent (must comfortable beds with down pillows). Breakfast is superb. Pool service a bit sporadic but overall the staff were wonderful. "
