Relais Della Rovere
10/10 Excellent
"We loved this hotel. We were in the area for a sporting event and it was the perfect location for us. The hotel was gorgeous, authentic and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was really good with an amazing selection of cakes, pastries, fruit, cold meats and hot items. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the whole place just had a nice feel to it. Lighting in a bathroom is really important to me and the room we had was perfect. I wish we could have stayed there longer but they were fully booked. Due to that we moved to their sister hotel the Palazzo San Lorenzo for our last 3 nights and unfortunately it just didn’t have the same feel to it. The pool area at the Relais Della Rovere is lovely and very relaxing. It’s great they have a pool bar also. The demographic is very mixed, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo is more of an older coach trip crowd. I would definitely stay at the Relais Della Rovere again and recommend it as a good base to explore the surrounding areas and to chill and relax in between."

"I can’t fault the hotel in general, but honestly, it felt a bit soulless. We stayed at the sister hotel Relais Della Rovere earlier in the week and loved it. It felt warm, authentic and welcoming. The bar was by reception and constantly had people in it and all areas of the hotel were charming, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo, while impressive looking, lacked character inside despite being an old palace and in an area of architectural beauty/interest. As you are up the top of the old town, although there are some nice restaurants, they all keep strange opening hours/ days and on a Monday there is nowhere in walking distance to get lunch and limited options for dinner on a Sunday. That would have been fine if the hotel had food options, but they only do breakfast (which is very nice ) and then dinner for two hours in the evening. We were expecting Caffe San Lorenzo to do food, but we never saw it open and apparently they don’t do food despite it stating they do on the website. Maybe it’s off season for them, but the website doesn’t give opening times or say what days the restaurant/ caffe Lorenzo are closed. You get two small bottles of water in the fridge in the room daily, but there is nowhere to get any other bottled drinks throughout the day or around the pool unless you drive down to the main town to a supermarket. Whilst a decent hotel, we wanted somewhere to relax and not have to venture far to eat and drink after a busy week previously, this didn’t tick that box for us"

"Borgo San Luigi exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed here for 2 days before our wedding at Borgo Stomennano, 15 mins away. We had a large group of nearly 30 people staying at San Luigi during our wedding events, and the consensus could not be clearer: what a stunning property. Yasmin, Ivan, Filippo and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to every request. They helped us get a car rental delivered, ensured a smooth experience for our guests, helping us deliver their welcome bags and coordinating a clothes ironing service before the wedding. The restaurant on site was also terrific and the wait staff, especially Alessandro, were so welcoming and warm. They all knew we were here to celebrate our wedding and did everything possible to take great care of us. The grounds are stunning and that pool is amazing. Such a great place to relax for hours. If you are looking for a beautiful, elegant but with a rustic charm stay in Tuscany, look no further than this property. The staff will treat you like family and you will be dreaming of your next trip here."

"We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed the property. Our hosts were very accommodating and generous with eggs, tomatoes and wine. This is a family run property which makes it extra special. Bega the young Labrador was fun to see on the grounds. The pool is beautiful and well maintained with lounges and umbrellas. There were many hill towns and wineries that were easy visit but you must have a car. We would come stay again."

"The employees are absolutely the best! Excellent service. The room was impecable, and they did do the room service everyday. The pool was perfect for the summer (doesn’t have heater). The view is stunning. And the food is top! Definitely recommend it and hopefully we will be back! They also have the electric car charger in the property so it helped a lot!"

"Simply charming. Located just a block from the Old Town and surrounded by medieval buildings, churches, and towers. Everything was perfect; the breakfast was delicious and made to order. The fruit, bread, and jams were fresh—no preservatives or pre-packaged products. The person in charge of the kitchen was very kind and attentive. The rooms were lovely, featuring antique furniture, and ours offered incredible views of the Tuscan landscape. We were treated like royalty. Furthermore, the location is perfect for visiting Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, and beautiful vineyards, all within 30 minutes. I highly recommend this hotel and am certain you won't be disappointed."

"This is a very large home that can easily accommodate a large family. There are 2 baths; you will need to draw straws to see who gets the smaller bath with the very cool lights. Centrally located in Tuscany. Hosts are fantastic and great communicators. Local restaurants and bars were every good. Excellent service."
