Gorgeous Little Mill House set in 5 acres of garden

About our home

The Mill House was built in 18th Century is fully modernized but retains its charm. It has an aga and open fires, but is south facing and benefits from a lovely patio overlooking the stream (tributary for the river Avon). There are trout in the stream and kingfishers and egrets can be seen in the garden. The very attractive nearby town of Marlborough has a renowned Summer School. The train journey to London takes under an hour.

An amazing location.
The house and its extensive garden is a wonderful place to stay, particularly if you like peaceful rural locations and birdlife. The Vale of Pewsey with its lovely countryside, rivers, hillsides and the canal is a great place for walking and cycling with no shortage of places to eat.

Unique Home
We wanted a special place to celebrate a special weekend and this home was picture perfect! Private, quiet, beautiful, unique and the grounds/garden/stream was magical and we were greeted by a small deer! Serena is very friendly and helpful even when calling her after 10pm for help. Thank you and would love to visit again.

A relaxing country break.
Beautiful home with delightful gardens. We and the dogs felt very much at home. An ideal base to explore the county with many excellent dog walks in the area, including on the doorstep. The house is very well equipped. We wanted for nothing. And Serena was very helpful before and during our stay.

The most relaxing week away
We had an incredible time in the Mill house. It was such a cozy and comfortable house with a huge garden where we saw deer and a couple of ponies. We cooked in the house every evening and bought fantastic produce in the local farm shops and towns. Couldn't have asked for a nicer week away. We'll be coming back next year for sure! Serena was also absolutely lovely and made sure we were having the best possible stay.

We had the most lovely few days at Sharcott Mill. Serena was a pleasure to deal with and was immediately responsive to our questions. The house and grounds exceeded our expectations. The surrounding countryside is idyllic and we're grateful that this listing was available. We would return in a heartbeat!

Fab location, nice house, lovely grounds
Gorgeous, large house, lovely grounds, terrific landlady. We did not twig, in advance, that this was actually somebody's (vacated) home, so we felt a little uncomfortable, at first, but it was such a comfortable house, we adapted quickly. We couldn't find the steak knives, but otherwise we found everything we needed in the kitchen. Would recommend, albeit it seemed slightly overpriced with only two available bedrooms. We had the relaxing holiday we were looking for.

Peaceful, comfortable and full of character
My husband and I stayed at The Mill for a week just as lockdown restrictions were easing. It was a superb choice. The house was full of character. We loved coming downstairs to the warmth of the AGA in the morning. Watching the resident kingfisher over the mill stream was a treat and winding down by the log fire in the evening a great way to end the day. Garden furniture on the patio meant that we could catch up with family and friends during these Covid times. We didn’t have any major problems but Serena was very quick to respond when we had questions. I can’t recommend this place highly enough if you like the peace of rural living.

Stunning Mill House
We stayed here over Christmas and Serena couldn’t have been more helpful with keeping in touch and making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The Mill house is simply stunning, lovely and warm and comfortable with open fireplaces, plenty of wood supplied and an Aga in the kitchen being the heart of the home. The views down the garden are amazing with the stream running through it. We are hoping to go back to experience the garden in the summer months . You won’t be disappointed if you stay here!

Lovely peaceful setting
A Beautiful house in a lovely peaceful setting. Very clean & comfortable bedrooms upstairs; downstairs kitchen, utility & living areas well equipped however somewhat cluttered with owners personal effects. Unfortunately the AGA (fuel stove) was on and most of kitchen/living areas were filled with diesel fumes (perhaps a leak in exhaust flue?) Plenty of parking at front door. Nearest pub or shop is several kilometers away. Bus stop easy 10-15 minute walk (bus Salisbury-Pewsey-Marlborough-Swinden).

Charming
Great property with everything you could possibly need. Bed was comfortable, wifi was fine and the cottage itself was charming and warm. The wood fires were especially loved on such cold days and nights. I would have no hesitation in recommending or returning. Thank you Serena for letting us stay in your beautiful house.

As described, a very peaceful, cottage in the Wiltshire countryside. Full of charm and comfort.
I stayed at Sharcott Mill house for about a month, to enjoy the peaceful solitude of english country life, while not being too far from civilisation. the house is very cozy and the garden full of natural beauty. The Pewsey train station has a direct train to Paddington London so I never felt remote. Also lots of destinations within range for a day trip.
