"A great location with view on Douro River. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is very dated and AC wasn’t working. Staff offered to switch room or a fan… "
"Beautiful farm...people were very helpful...lovely setting...and great wines and information about wines and ports. Only issue was finding the place...they do not have a sign at the entrance to the property."
"Marco and Joana were extremely helpful and efficient. Although we never actually met them in person, we could feel that they were genuine in their desire to make our stay the best it could be"
"Great, friendly service by the family hosting the hotel. Fabulous old building, where you could imagine living in a castle. TV didn't work immediately, but in time for the football match. Nice inner yard as well."
"Um acolhimento super simpático, eficiente; uma bela paisagem, lugar propício a uma caminhada para apreciar os encantos e recantos a beira do Varosa, não esquecendo o pequeno-almoço, com tudo comme il faut…"
"Good value for money hotel in Douro wine region. Little town from where you can discover the surrounding hills, viewpoints and Douro. Rooms were clean, decent and had proper bathroom."

"Beautiful property in the beautiful Douro Valley with a nice pool. There is no winery on site, but it is in the middle of beautiful vineyards. You can go down the road to Pinhao or to St. Eufemia Winery for a tour. Breakfast was great and the staff was very accomodating. Great price for a beautiful stay. The property would benefit from some more outdoor leisure areas to sit peacefully and enjoy the view other than the balcony of your room or the pool/deck. Lenore at the desk was very nice and very helpful."
"Very memorable single night stay in this beautiful property. Delicious dinner in the Cozinha da Clara restaurant. We loved the winery tour at 6pm and enjoyed walking among the vines the next morning. "
"I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. At check-in, I was thoughtfully greeted and allowed to retreat to my room well over 3 hours early. Reception encouraged me to get some rest when I mentioned I was quite tired, and that they’d be happy to give me a tour once rested if this was my preference. This considerate gesture was just one of MANY positive experiences with this lovely staff.
From an interior design standpoint, I found the hotel well curated with special details like beautiful dinnerware from Costa Nova and materials that reflected the natural environment. Everything felt quite serene. Even the thought to plant rosemary in the gardens added a special touch; When out by the pool in the afternoon sun it smelled only of herbs and the effect was just so unique given the wine and the vineyards that surround the hotel.
The food, too, was excellent. From Caesar salads with quail eggs, as an example, everything had just a little something extra. The breakfast buffet also had expansive offerings including local, hand-made pastries. And with respect to the facilities, I wanted for nothing and enjoyed the spa and pool very much, including the fact that the spa had “children free” hours for those of us looking for those relaxing quiet hours.
I can’t wait to return with friends. There was so much more to do and see and my short weekend trip was not nearly sufficient. Further, it was so easy to get to!
Obrigada!"
"Accommodations 5* Food 5* Property & Amenities 5*
An inland riveria with what you would desire from a Michelin property.
The rooms and common areas are picturesque and should be visited by Arch Digest. Well appointed and furnished to relax the mind.
The staff is top notch. Not too assertive but very attentive and respectful.
The restaurant options have a nice variety from bar to Michelin. This is what you want. A kitchen that can provide delicious bites on the go and the more exquisite dishes for that special moment.
We personally, loved the breakfast and infinity pool in the mornings, property amenities during the day (gym, vineyard, spa), and bar/restaurant options in the evening. A beautiful oasis to call home base if you are looking to stay put in Douro valley or venture out into the countryside. ~ Cheers."
"The surroundings are beautiful, all vineyards. Know that this is in a pretty isolated area and it requires driving on small two lane mountain roads with some hairpin turns to get here.
We were practically the only guests here during our stay, and had a breakfast spread waiting for us each morning. We had the infinity pool to ourselves. The grounds are great.
The room was kind of fancy looking, but romantic. (Note: glass walls on the bathroom.) Also note, you have to drive at least 15 minutes to town to get food or wine. The local town had excellent restaurants."
