"Our hosts, Maria Eugenia and Jose, were amazing! Kind, informative, generous, helpful, I can't say enough about them. We stayed for four days, two couples in the larger home. It was spacious, each couple with their own bathroom. We ate most of our meals at home. Our comadre caught a cold right upon arrival. She had a comfortable place to read, rest and recover, while we enjoyed the pool and had such a wonderful outing in the boat on the Douro river. This was definitely a once in a life time...

"This is a nice calm place to escape to reconnect with nature and a slower pace of living. There are lots of nature trails to hike. Aveiro and Porto are an hour away, but you have some very unique tourism opportunities about 10 minutes away in S. João da Madeira with their industry tourism and hat and shoe museum!"

It's a beautiful area with green eucalyptus hills and the Geo park provided some interesting spots to visit. "Fatima welcomed and attended to us as if we were family. Deonilde delivered fresh bread in the morning and did our laundry. The view was spectacular, especially poolside. Well equipped kitchen, two modern bathrooms and yes, the Wifi works! Other than the first night dinner out, we enjoyed eating on the lovely terrace."

"Everything was as advertised ,clean and functional. The host went out of her way to make sure that my experience was first class and it was. A big shout out to her neighbor who pitch hit for her When she hurt her leg. It’s very close to the train station maybe five minutes by car and it made the right into Douro very very easy."

"We spent a lovely week at Casa do Vimieiro. We were 2 couples, and the house was spacious comfortable, and clean. Susana responded to queries very promptly. The countryside is beautiful. My only caution is that driving in the area is not for the faint of heart. Also, people with mobility issues should avoid the house as there are many stairs and uneven steps going into the property. Finding the best route to the house is a challenge. The GPS we used took us on a harrowing ride. We later found...

"Loved the room. Very spacious, nice, and clean. The shower alone was amazing and deserves 5 stars on its own. The staff was very accomodating to my plant-based breakfast request and made sure I had enough food. Our room safe battery died right before our check out and the staff resved the issue in a very professional and fast manner. The area is great too. Would stay here again. "
