This property has lots of historic pizazz, great dining and lounge spaces and we had a nice large room on the first floor. Great location walkable to the university and most sites. The desk staff was efficient if not overly friendly, as was the wait staff in the lounge. All in all, I would recommend and stay here again

The Alice in Wonderland theme is done with real taste — playful without being kitschy — and the portrait of Oscar Wilde in my room was a delightful surprise. My evening tea was a lovely daily ritual that gave the stay a sense of calm and occasion. Above all, the staff were warm, friendly, and exceptionally helpful, attentive without ever being intrusive. A memorable stay I'd happily repeat.

I liked everything. When reception realised I was disabled they immediately offered me a room with disabled facilities. Marvelous really. They were wonderful. The valet parking is priceless. After The Grand in Eastbourne I think you have the best hotel in England. Best wishes, John
