Pozières British Cemetery is enclosed within the boundary wall incorporating the Pozières Memorial to the Missing of 1918.

Burials made during 1916, 1917 and 1918 are contained in Plot II and these were made at that time by the fighting units or field ambulances in position here near Pozières.

All other graves were brought to this cemetery after the Armistice in November 1918. Most of the graves were brought here from battlefield burials in the vicinity of this cemetery. Most of these casualties were British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the surrounding fields during the autumn battles of the 1916 Battle of the Somme. Some were casualties discovered in isolated burial plots and small cemeteries from the fighting in August 1918.

There are now 2,758 Commonwealth servicemen buried or commemorated in this cemetery. 1,380 of the burials are unidentified but there are special memorials to 23 casualties known or believed to be buried among them. There is also one German soldier buried here.

"Amazing gîte with interesting history. In total contrast to times that the place was used as an infirmary in WW1. Exceptional styling, compliments to the owners!"

"This was a wonderful and quiet spot! We watched the kittens playing in the hayloft across from us and qoke to the sound of a rooster. The location was great for what we were wanting and the house itself was perfect for our family of 4. The host was very warm and welcoming too!"

"We had stayed before so I knew the hotel. Our rooms were on 2nd floor across the courtyard which meant the elevator only reached 1st floor. This wasn't a problem for us but some may have difficulty. Nice breakfast. Best to book parking. Only slight downside was that the car park, while very convenient, is a little tight when busy and maneuvering can be tricky. We would stay again."

The perfect stop over

"We stayed for one night on the way to the Euro Tunnel. As a family of 4 with two young children the location was ideal as a stop over on the way home from Disney. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the black out blind was very welcome! The nighttime receptionist was lovely and went above and beyond to help us sort out milk for our yongest. We would definitely stay again. "
