"We have tried several other hotels in Montreal, all pleasant, but Place d'Armes is our favorite. The rooms are generous and comfortable, the showers (or bath tubs) are wonderful, and the bed is comfy. It's location couldn't be better on the edge of "old" Montreal, near Notre Dame, the "subway", and a number of excellent restaurants.
