This lovely house is in a fabulous spot in beautiful downtown Oaxaca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/415). Casa Crespo is within walking distance (5-10 min.) of the best attractions Oaxaca has to offer, including the historic Zócalo (central plaza), the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the Santo Domingo Museum of Oaxacan Cultures, the Ethnobotanical Garden, the Carmen Bajo Church, the Carmen Alto Church and former Convent with its adjacent market, as well as many restaurants, cafes, museums, galleries, and shops.

Casa Crespo offers fast fiber internet (WiFi 6), perfect for those working remotely (strong mesh signal throughout the house, including the office, yard, balconies, and bedrooms). The beautiful private office downstairs shows the original green "Cantera Verde" quarry foundation, making it a perfect motif for your video conference background. Additionally, Casa Crespo has a local telephone number, and we provide unlimited long-distance calling to Canada and the US and an additional 50 other countries (please ask for a list)--share it with your family back home for extra peace of mind.

If you are planning to visit Oaxaca toward the end of July, Casa Crespo is the perfect spot for the Guelaguetza Festival, as it is just a few hundred feet from the stairway to the Cerro del Fortín, where the Lunes del Cerro celebration takes place (usually the last two Mondays of the month)!

You will be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful/functional kitchen in town. It can be an excellent complement for those attending one of the many Oaxacan cooking academies (it is well-stocked with everything you might need).

Regarding sleeping accommodations, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, a full bathroom, and a beautiful balcony; the second and third bedrooms each have a double and a single bed and private bathrooms.

The common areas are relaxing and well-kept. A laundry room is provided for your convenience. If you bring a car, you can rest easy knowing Casa Crespo has a secured garage with an automatic door.

Finally, Casa Crespo is in front of a bus route, which makes it convenient to get to from anywhere in the city.

We had an amazing time at Casa Crespo. The house itself is beautiful; the view of the Santo Domingo de Guzman church from the patio is lovely. The house's closeness to the downtown tourist spots and restaurants was so convenient, but we really enjoyed its location in a quieter area. Our host Gene was outstanding, giving us lots of useful information up front, responding immediately to any questions we had, and recommending excellent drivers for our various activities. Flawless experience!!!!

Gene was an excellent host for our stay in Oaxaca. Shared great info about Oaxaca sites to consider seeing, nearby amenities, taxi info, and recommend an excellent certified local guide (Ivan). He responded quickly to questions and was accommodating. Check in and out information was clearly communicated. The home was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. We did not cook on this trip, but the kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed if we chose to. There was some street noise that could be heard in the master bedroom along with one night I could hear a concert at the nearby stadium, but nothing was loud enough to keep me awake at night.The home is up the hill from most local activities, so if on foot be prepared for an uphill hike at the end of the day, but it's very doable (or just get a cab). Great place to stay if you need/want extra space. I would stay there here again.

Everything about my 4 night stay was exceptional. This home is beautiful, clean, comfortable and wonderfully located. Gene was beyond helpful . . . very responsive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this casa and hope to visit again.

This is a great property. It's above old town with a beautiful view of the cathedral. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck and having our morning coffee. It's a quick 10 - 15 minute walk down to the old town. Great shops and restaurants nearby, and Gene the host will give you a list of his favorites. Make sure you go to the local markets for fruit and flowers.Property was also very quiet for such a lively town. One of the best kitchens in all of our VRBO experiences. Gene instantly replies to any problems (I forgot check-in instructions and texted him in a panic). NFL playoffs were going on and, yes, we took time out to watch the games on the big screen tv in the living room. This was such a comfortable house. I could see staying for a month.

This was a wonderful place! I already miss the view of Santa Domingo! The house is well equipped and has plenty of space. Everything was clean and in great condition. Other than this being one of the nicest VRBOs I’ve stayed in, Gene, the host, has to be the best host I’ve ever had. He communicated before our stay with numerous recommendations and was prompt to reply during our stay. It really made it easy and most enjoyable! Thank you Gene! Such a gem!

Very nice unit that came as advertised. Great location: short walk to numerous cafes and restaurants, beautiful view. Comfortable unit: plenty of space, nice furnishings. Amenities: well-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer in a separate room that made laundry very convenient.Gene was a very responsive host; in addition to communicating clearly regarding check in, check out, airport transfer etc, he was very helpful responding to random queries about Oaxaca and the neighborhood.

Casa Crespo is a gem of a home. It's immaculately clean, light-filled and spacious. The furniture is actually comfortable and well-designed. Plus, unlike so many vacation rentals, this property has high-end modern finishings and a very well-equipped kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in for the meals we chose to eat in. The location was convenient to everywhere we wished to visit in Oaxaca, and most places were easy walking distance. We especially enjoyed getting fresh juices and Doña Cande's tamales at the local Sanchez Pascua market just a few blocks away. Gene was a delightful and kind host. He shared helpful (and thoughtful) tips prior to and during our visit. Since central Oaxaca is lively at all hours, bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Thanks for making this visit unforgettable. We look forward to our next visit to Casa Crespo.

Casa Crespo was the perfect home base for my family of 6 (including grandparents and a child) during our stay in Oaxaca Centro for a wedding. I've stayed in many rentals around the world, and this was the best experience I've ever had! Gene was extremely kind, helpful, and communicative, sending recommendations and checking on us regularly. The home was clean and pristine, with great amenities, fully stocked kitchen, beautiful and comfortable furniture, and a gorgeous view of Templo de Santo Domingo from the chic balcony. Fantastic stay!

Apartment is clean, well stocked and has beautiful views. Great location within walking distance of the major spots in Oaxaca. Host is super communicative and helped us arrange taxis and an in-home catered meal. Will definitely return here on our next visit.

Fabulous Rental- Wish I Could Stay Longer

So many pluses about this rental I can't list all of them.The home is inviting from the moment you walk in - The views of the sunrise over the mountains, immaculate kitchen stocked with everything you need for cooking, living room with a large screen tv with 100% reliable wi-fi and comfortable couches and a private parking space - which is a godsend in Oaxaca. The owner, Gene, always responds to requests or questions in record time and provided great restaurant and tour guide recommendations. The tour guide he recommended, Ivan, possessed encyclopedic knowledge of the archeological sites we visited (Mitla and Monte Alban) as well as the ancient caves in the area. Ninfa, Gene's on site assistant, made sure the home was well stocked daily and even when out of her way to walk us over to the local open air market on our second day where you can get the freshest, tastiest fruits and vegetables, fish, poultry, meat, imaginable. Location is perfect. You can walk to everything. Next time we're in Oaxaca, this is where we will stay. Thanks Gene and Ninfa for everything!

Fantastic Oaxaca

Comfortable home for a family vacation! Clean, well located with incredible walkability to Oaxaca City landmarks. Host is attentive, available and offered great suggestions for dining and sightseeing! We’d return to Casa Crespo in a heartbeat! Loved it!

Casa Crespo - Excellente

Three couples stayed here comfortably for two weeks and really enjoyed the experience. This is a secure, well designed, maintained and located modern home. It was the first trip to Oaxaca for everyone and host Gene was super responsive and very informative on all things local to simplify and maximize our visit. Highly recommend.

Lovely Oaxaca City home

We enjoyed our stay here immensely. Property was clean and well-maintained, communication with owner was timely and helpful, and location very convenient. There was plenty of room for our family of 5. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect home and location

We all enjoyed our stay at Casa Crespo. Everything was exactly as described. I loved that all the Oaxacan highlights were in walking distance but it was easy to get a taxi when we wanted. It was located on a quiet street far enough from the louder parts of town. We would definitely return to this home on future visits.

Beautiful home but be cognizant of water shortage and report it to host immediately.

Positives: Excellent location - close to Centro Oaxaca, easy taxi access, safe and friendly neighborhood Good security with electric fence and cameras Beautiful view Lovely home with tasteful furnishings Well Equipped kitchen Spacious (more room than the 2 of us needed, but we chose it for the location and ambiance) Nice patios Good ventilation; fans were helpful Welcome Guide was helpful for managing logistics of the casa, but information needs to be update Purified water was provided Comfortable beds Adequate USB ports and electrical outlets Host provided useful information about Oaxaca and answered all our questions, prior to arrival. Negatives: Water shortage. Bathrooms did not have sufficient water for toilet, sinks, or showers by the next to last day of our stay, in spite of our conscientious efforts to conserve. Kitchen water was not adequate to wash dishes without using purified water we had to heat. The Welcome Guide informed us about the drought and indicated if water was scarce, it would take days to arrange refill of the cistern. We coped with it and reported the issue to our host when we departed. We would have appreciated some compensation for our adversity, but he said if we had reported it to him immediately he would have had water for us right away (contrary to what was written in the Welcome Guide). I debated about a 4 star rating because of the water issue and disappointing response from our host, but everything else met or exceeded our expectations.

Met our needs perfectly for a group of five. Gene was very helpful. The traffic was a bit noisy for the bedrooms facing the street.

Exceptional Home in Oaxaca

My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Crespo in Oaxaca with a group of family for Dia de los Muertos and it was an exceptional experience! The property is beautiful, spacious, and comfortably accommodates up to eight guests. It is centrally located, making it easy to explore all that Oaxaca has to offer. The listing description was accurate, and the house exceeded our expectations. It is very well appointed. The check-in and check-out instructions were clear and straightforward, which made the process seamless. Our host, Gene, was fantastic — he was responsive, attentive, and made sure all of our questions were promptly addressed. One of the highlights was the stunning view of the Santo Domingo Cathedral from the property, which truly added to the charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Crespo and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oaxaca. We’ll definitely be returning for another stay! Five star experience!

Perfecto!

Exactly as advertised and even better in person. Clean, comfortable, and modern. Within 10 minutes of walking distance to all the attractions and city center, and in a safe location. Loved sitting on back balcony watching the city lights and listening to the sounds of the city around us. We barely used the property except at night - and relished the great showers and cool a/c that we could turn on for a good nights sleep with lovely linens on each bed. Felt a little guilty having such modern amenities but it really helped us have a comfortable first-time international adventure with our teenagers! And Gene was such a helpful host! We will be back! Oaxaca is one-of-a-kind!
