Starfish Cottage where quality, service, and price meet to create memorable stays in Newport Beach. Travel parties of up to 4 guests without pets are welcome to book!

MAXIMUM overnight occupancy is the # stated in the reservation for up to 4 people (including infants/children). We rent to travel parties of 1-4 guests only! We live across the street and personally check-in guests. Any travel group that arrives with more than 4 guests will be turned away and will need to find other accommodations.

LIMITED, INFREQUENT daytime visitors of up to 2 people maximum. Over occupancy/use, day or night will result in removal from the property without a refund.

Typical Starfish Cottage Day: Walk 1 short block to the beach for sunrise, enjoy a cup of Keurig brewed coffee or tea on the large private front patio, shower in the elegant, cozy bathroom, watch your beloved team or movie on the 55" Smart TV in the living room or the 32" Smart TV in the bedroom, use provided beach chairs and boogie boards to get lots of sand between your toes, BBQ on the natural gas grill or walk a block maybe two to a fantastic restaurant, watch the sunset, and read followed by sleep on a comfortable clean bed. The next day hit repeat with a few changes for variety.

Details, Details: Micro split A/C that cools entire cottage, DIRECTV Ultimate Package plus movie channels, Fully stocked kitchen with granite countertops, Samsung stainless steel appliances, 1 bedroom with a California King bed and 32" TV, 1 bedroom with 2 TwinXL beds (same sleeping space per person as a King), the bathroom has custom tile and stone shower and granite top vanity with an ornate mirror above, private washer/dryer, high-quality linens provided, a starter set of soaps and paper goods included. Towels including beach, bath, hand and wash clothes plus kitchen towels provided. Large, private front patio with Weber natural gas BBQ, table with comfortable cushioned chairs (seats 4), storage chest that contains beach gear (4 beach chairs, umbrella, 2 boogie boards). Live plants accent the cottage inside and out. Come make some wonderful, happy memories at Starfish Cottage!

Please note a typical day at Starfish Cottage does NOT include Beer Pong or smoking. This is NOT a party place! Our home is smoke and drug-free.

Over occupancy and/or noise levels affecting residents of Newport Beach are enforced by the City of Newport Beach Code and Law Enforcement 24/7. If a guest(s) over occupancy or noise levels result in a city fine, $1,000 minimum, the fine will be charged to the reservation. ALL guests will be immediately evicted.

Best suited for 1-4 guests including families with older children (8+) that enjoy meals, snacks, and drinks at the indoor or outdoor table.

NO PETS-pet allergy-free home due to family allergies

Out of respect for our neighbors, the patio closes at 10 PM. Our neighbors are not on vacation and their right to enjoy their homes is important!

Starfish Cottage

Our stay at the Starfish Cottage was fantastic. The Cottage has upgraded kitchen and bathroom. The location was amazing with everything you could want within easy walking distance. We plan to stay there again next summer! I highly recommend the Starfish Cottage.

Perfect Newport Beach spot

We had the best stay in Newport Beach and loved this place! Host had all the beach gear we needed (umbrella, boogie boards, chairs, and even beach towels!). Close enough to the beach that you can walk back to use the bathroom. Tons of restaurants within walking distance (Sancho’s Tacos was dangerously close!). Loved the K-cups that were supplied, too! Only bummer is street parking, but we never had an issue finding parking. Highly recommend!

Wonderful cottage!

I think this might be my favorite Vrbo stay! Very clean, comfortable, great location, beach, restaurants, comfy beds and bedding. Nice patio for outdoor relaxing. Everything we could possibly want.

Exceptional stay!

We loved the cottage! Holly met us upon arrival and gave us some tips. The cottage was perfectly clean and had thoughtful touches including both coffee and tea, to go cups, pens and the like. We loved the location so close to the beach, grocery store and restaurants. We hope to return again soon!

Fabulous Place!

The Starfish Cottage is a great vacation rental! It is in an ideal location with everything you need within walking distance. The beach is only two blocks away. My communication with the Starfish Cottage owner was exceptional. They were very helpful and gracious. We have stayed at the Starfish Cottage two summers and hopefully will return next year as well. I highly recommend it.

Piece of paradise!

The Starfish cottage is great! Holly is a lovely host and pays attention to small details in the house. Kitchen is fully stocked. Beach chairs, small cooler, umbrella, and boogie boards provided. There were bikes but we didn’t use them. Location is just 1 block from the beach, across the street from the grocery store, and walking distance to the pier. We had the perfect getaway for a long weekend!

Our family of four enjoyed a week at Starfish cottage. The cottage was stocked with more than we expected. Very comfortable and convenient. Short walk to the beach, easy parking, cozy heat.

great location

Location is everything for this house, but the house is wonderful too. Very clean and well appointed, literally has everything you could ever need during your stay. The ceiling fans in bedroom are very nice for warmer nights. My only point of improvement would be that the shower water pressure could be a bit stronger, but that is very minor! Very quiet and respectful neighbors as well. We will surely be back!

A Truly 5-star Vacation Retreat

This wonderful cottage deserves a star for each of the star-fish's 5 arms. Perfectly furnished, with true feeling and empathy for the vacationer's needs, you won't find anything missing ; so much love for completeness and detail went into this cottage - it invites to stay, come back and live your dreams and needs of a stress-free, perfect vacation. Added to this is its perfect location - just a couple of minutes walk to beach, shops and restaurants. We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay and will most certainly be back - despite a 12-hours flight to get there. Thanks Holly and Drew

Lovely Cottage Near The Sea

My wife and I traveled from the Mountains of California to this lovely cottage by the sea and what an experience it has been. The interior is beautifully decorated and the space is very well thought out. The Living Room, Dining Area, Two Bedrooms, and Full Kitchen are immaculate and comfortably furnished and accessorized. You can't help but to be instantly relaxed and refreshed. If you are looking for a retreat that is a stones throw from the beach this is the place to be. We look forward to returning one day for a longer stay....

Luxurious and family friendly

We had the best experience at this cottage! It is so clean and new that it felt like we were the first people to ever stay there. I am a chef and enjoyed the gas stove and grill, plus Keurig coffee maker. Holly is a pleasure, from her warm personal greeting to all of the thoughtful decor and every possible necessity provided, she is a truly great hostess. The neighbors were nice too. The beach was very close and was clean with mild waves, which is great especially with little ones. The cottage is close to everything within walking distance, we wished we hadn't even rented a car! Thank you for making our family vacation such a great success!!

Absolutely Perfect Cottage!!!

This cottage went beyond our expectations. Photos can make a place look good even when it is rough in reality. Not the case here! Even cuter and better set up than we imagined. Kitchen has everything - with just a trip for fresh fish and veggies we were cooking on the BBQ on our first night. There was olive oil and basic spices to get us started so we didn't spend our time shopping. However, a sizeable grocery store is about 600' away. The beds are super comfy. Slept 4 people extremely well. Plenty of closet space. The bathroom is really nice - stones on your feet are like getting a massage. Owners have thought of everything- from beach towels to beach chairs and even lotion in the bathroom for your sun soaked skin. Neighborhood was very friendly and just a stone throw to the beach. Great location and amenities but parking a challenge.

The cottage is well-furnished, clean and close to the beach. You only have to cross one street on your walk to the beach, which is convenient and appreciated if you are going to carry beach supplies with you. Restaurants and a grocery store are easy walks and the neighborhood is quite lively and with an interesting mix of people. My only real gripe is parking. All of the parking for non-residents is street parking, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but not all of the street parking is free. The limited free street parking is scare, so it is a challenge to get a parking space and keep it. If you plan to drive around much, then be prepared to pay for parking and to stay close to the parking meter. The meters are closely monitored as I discovered when I arrived a few minutes late one morning and found a $61 parking ticket on my windshield. There are also two days with street cleaning, so you can’t just park your car on the street and leave it all week. Overall all, the cottage is a really nice place for the price and location and Holly was very prompt with communication.

Wonderful stay

The Starfish cottage is so cute. The location is one block from beach and within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. This has to be one of the cleanest VRBOs I have rented. The street is rather busy as it is a straight shot to a public beach access but it did not disrupt our stay. We enjoyed having morning coffee on front porch and watching people. The half front door was unique as the weather was perfect for open windows. We appreciated Holly’s communication and generosity. We will definitely consider staying here in the future.

Beyond Expectations

Over the past 8 years we have stayed at dozens of VRBO locations across the country. The STARFISH is at the top of the chart. First, the beach-bay location is perfect. Toes in the sand. Lunch on the bay. Off the rails walkability. Second, the actual cottage is very comfortable and amazingly quiet for a Balboa location. Finally, Hollie is an awesome host. No item is overlooked. And she is readily available. This was our second stay and we will be back!

Perfectly Magical

Our stay here was absolutely perfect!! Walking distance to everything, grocery store, restaurants, boardwalk, beach, pier…everything!! Holly was amazing, met us at the front door (even saved a parking space for us!) went through everything about the house and amenities…made sure we were comfortable and all set! Everything we needed was there…even beach chairs towels and an umbrella. There was plenty of parking-which was my biggest concern but it wasn’t ever a problem. The street was clean, safe and everyone was so friendly!! I will absolutely be back very very soon!! 10/10 would definitely recommend 💕💕

Great weekend getaway

What a wonderful cottage! The location was excellent close to restaurants, beach, store, and activities. Holly was an amazing host giving us lots of suggestions of where to go and activities.
