"We like the El Dorado mainly for the dining options along the Row, and other amenities. It’s always clean, but our room this time felt a little dated & warm. But, it’s hard to complain when it’s such a value."

"First time staying at North Star. The King studio was awesome. The kitchenette was furnished with top notch appliances and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Parking under building inside out of the elements. Short walk for shopping and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again !"

"I wasn’t impressed with Holiday Inn’s way of check in. At the desk everything was normal until it came time to receiving your key. Then we had to go to another location where we got the hard sell to come to their timeshare meeting. The previous owners had a similar meeting. However, there was no hard sell at the check-in desk to come. My wife and I began coming to this property in 2011 prior to Holiday Inn taking over. The last time was in 2017. The first 3 times were in the Cascade lodge. We loved that place. This time we stayed in the Terrace. Overall the place was clean. However, the tiles in the elevators were worn due to ski boots and equipment. The fan in the main room only worked one way. The chains to turn the light on and off and change fan speed were stuck. When the fan was turned on the light stayed on and it was stuck at its slowest speed. Fan direction couldn’t be changed between winter and summer. The programmable portion it the coffee pot didn’t work. We asked for another and it was the same. In the kitchen they had all the essentials, plates, silverware, pots and pans etc, there were no measuring cup/cups or spoons. The staff is very helpful. They responded quickly when we called regarding an issue we were having. In all they were the best part of our experience. This will probably be our last time coming to this resort. It needs a major refresher to be in line for the prices charged."
Pepper Tree Inn

"We were hesitant at first after we read all the bad reviews but we were happy once we got there. We were on the 6th floor with the beautiful view of the lake. The building is dated and needs a lot of work to make it up to date. The beds are okay with clean sheets. The bathroom with the shower is just the right size and with white clean towels. The staff are nice. The building is in the middle of Tahoe City walking distance to all the restaurants and shops and most especially to the lake. We got there early since we need to be at the church wedding by 2pm. We were directed to go to Basecamp (their sister company) so we can change and get ready for the wedding since Pepper Tree Inn staff won’t be there till 3pm. We were very happy with our stay at Pepper Tree Inn."
