"I had a really comfortable stay at Route-Inn. The room is nice and bed comfy. The breakfast buffet was superb and there are lots of options for affordable dining close by. It is a bit of a walk to get to the train station and some bus stops but I was able to get everywhere I needed just fine. "
"I was rather intimidated by this listing considering how automotated the whole process is. It’s all done with thorough written instruction and an iPad at check-in/out.
I felt like I was doing a scavenger hunt on The Amazing Race or something.
Stay the course and read everything carefully.
My stay was even better than I anticipated considering how in-human the process was. Clean, big, safe comfortable room.
The walls are thin, so being quiet using headphones is most polite. Try not to use the...

10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful location, outstanding tatami room with good en suite bathroom facilities, and extremely friendly staff. Wifi connection in room was very weak (had to go to hall to connect). Not many English-speaking staff but made do with Google-translate. Would have appreciated food/snack options in bar but bought snacks at well-stocked gift store and small snack outlet on street where they have nice hot spring foot baths next to the river. The garden is beautiful and the private onsen was excellent. Probably easiest to visit by car (plentiful space in their off site parking lot); the train option would be cumbersome. Beautiful rose garden associated with the shrine up the hill; in full bloom at the end of June. Small restaurants nearby."
"Great hospitality and very comfortable facilities. We were traveling as a family with one infant and were impressed with how family-friendly the whole experience was, including baby bath supplies at the onsen and special baby seats and tableware at meals. The staff also went above and beyond to accommodate dietary restrictions (vegan) for the kaiseki dinners -- we just had to communicate this beforehand. The Tsukioka Onsen town shuttle also made it easy to get there without needing to rent a car. Highly recommended. "
"Words cannot convey how beautiful both Murakami and the family who own this apartment are!!! Communication before arrival was prompt and Taiko even dropped any plans to pick me up at the local station saving me money on further transport. Over the 2 week period i stayed here this family made sure i was fed and clothes were cleaned, inviting friends and family around for both food and Karaoke has been hospitality i never knew was possible. Please dont hesitate to stay here and when here if you have the time, try to get to know Taiko the apartment owner. I did and will never regret it!!! I am now on a Youtube video walking the mountains and learning to forage for organic vegetables. In all honesty when it was time to leave i couldnt help but shed a tear or two, this family have truly welcomed me with open arms which in turn opened my heart to them. Simply outstanding people"
