"Understand this hotel was built in 1904. It probably could use some updates, but as a overall property, it is fantastic. You are close to absolutely everything in Monterey, including blocks away from the old fisherman’s wharf, plenty of conveniences, bars, restaurants, coffee, shops, close by that you really don’t have to go outside the area. The staff was incredibly helpful and met our every need when we asked. When I go back to Monterey, I will not stay anywhere else."

"The ambience is calm and sophisticated. The staff have all been exceedingly helpful and friendly, from check in to bartender to housekeeping. We felt spoiled and had all of our needs met. We could live here! Almost like a cruise. We never had to leave but of course we need to see Monterey and Carmel and beaches and trails. TV and wifi were awful. Roku unusable. Some of the channels that we could watch cut out. Big shower. Small bathroom! Great towels! Air conditioner is loud. Those are the bad things. The sauna is a great perk. The pool and grounds are well kept and clean. The daily wine servings and smores are a nice touch. The restaurant has a great view of the ocean with an occasional glimpse of a sea lion or pod of dolphins going by."
