"Our stay at Moinho da Areia was absolutely wonderful! The historic property is beautiful, the bedding was highly comfortable, and you cannot beat the direct beach access. What truly made our trip special was the innkeeper, Cristina. She is fantastic! She prepared a delicious daily breakfast and went out of her way to help us with special requests, even providing a travel converter when we realized we forgot ours. A local music festival did impact our stay, making it less quiet than we had originally hoped for. However, the property hosts proactively informed us of the event well prior to our arrival, so we really appreciated the honest communication and great service!"

"Very clean and well furnished. Host very responsive. Only thing is that it's a bit further than the Sta Barbara beach than the description. Be prepared to use your car for everything. Easy parking in the street in front."

"Family friendly place to stay. I would say it is a neighborhood beach house so not fancy but a big place with enough room for everyone. Views of the beach and surf from the kitchen and patio and upstairs bedroom. Wonderful. You can walk to everything so the location is perfect. Parking is on the street and we could always find a spot. Since you are living in an actual neighborhood...there is a rooster, dogs and lots of feral cats. We enjoyed most of this except for mister rooster on the days we wanted to sleep a little longer but still very charming. Riberia Grande is a very homey place not touristy at all. Love this island too. Just breathtaking views and activities everywhere you turn."

"Perfect apartment for our family to stay in. Our parents also stayed in a neighboring apartment and it was perfect for our families to interact with no worry of traffic driving by. Conveniently located in the center of São Miguel, giving us a head start on our daily day trips!"

"The view from the upper rooms of the ocean is breathtaking. The bed is comfortable and the small kitchen space has the basics of what you need. The patio space is shared with other units (although some bamboo provides a bit of privacy) so others smoking &/or having loud conversations can affect the tranquility. The surrounding area is farmland so it is very tranquil. The lodge is under renovation/construction - something we didn’t know. But the work stops in the afternoon so there was no issue. We would definitely stay here again for the views!"

"We loved our stay at the Mar Grande apartment! Every aspect of our stay was everything you could hope for- from ease of booking and communication with the host team, the attention to detail regarding amenities & comfort level, to the most amazing view. What a sight! A beautiful view of the ocean & the beach cove out front, visible from every room! Another aspect we were thrilled with was secure underground parking with a designated spot. Our hosts were very gracious, & communication was clear & thorough. The secure apartment was spotless, well appointed & laid out, with nice attention to detail. The location of the apartment is great- overlooking the swimming pools & beach. Within walking distance are many restaurants, (shout out to Monte Verde restaurant, Oh Canadiano Pizzeria, & O Chocolatinho!) The grocery store, surfing mecca Santa Barbara beach, & the centre of town are also within walking distance. We have many wonderful memories here- we look forward to returning! "
