"Gianna and her family were so welcoming, friendly and helpful and did everything possible to ensure that we were having a great holiday, from suggestions for restaurants to sights to see. Gianna was always available, but not intrusive. We enjoyed a lovely welcome pack, including a bottle of her own olive oil, wine and beer, plus essentials such as milk, butter and eggs. The garden had lovely views across the valley and to the hills beyond. The kitchen was well equipped, though without an oven which wasn't a problem for us. The spiral staircase from the living room down to the bedroom and bathroom, though quaint, may be a problem for people with mobility problems. A car is essential to get around, including to the railway station at Pontassieve [10 minutes drive and free parking] for journeys to Florence and beyond, saving the hassle of parking in town. It would also be convenient to drive to Siena, which is well worth seeing, but can also be reached by train. We found a great restaurant just off this carpark called Bastian Contirario, plus another in Pelago called Leonia Bistrot. Both reasonably priced.We would thoroughly recommend staying at La Casina with Gianna."

"The grounds were gorgeous and the staff were very accommodating to food allergies and other requests. Our apartment was lovely. We both wished we had booked a longer stay here because it was such a peaceful part of our trip to Tuscany. The wine tour and hiking came with some stunning views. The bottega is convenient for grabbing food and wine, as well."

"My fiancé and I decided to stay here for our Italy trip. We were absolutely blown away by this bed and breakfast. Not only was the place beautiful, but the family running it were amazing, very welcoming and accommodating! We so wish that could've stayed longer... This was the best part of our trip. Food was absolutely the best and they make their own olive oil. Please stay here and enjoy!"

"Anna is very attentive and really helpful. She really does want you to have the best time and experience in her home. The location is good as long as you don’t mind a little drive. The house and grounds are STUNNING! We loved our stay and would go back. The weather wasn’t great when we went but we still utilised the pool and hot tub when possible. Our children also loved the place and we all had fun regardless of weather. Thanks Anna"

"A Fascinating and perhaps haunted hotel off the beaten track. You will drive through the beautiful mountains to get there and it’s located in the shadow of an ancient Abby. The staff is lovely, the food at the in-house restaurant is great. And definitely get a bottle of the house red (it’s amazing). You will not be sorry you made this journey. "

"We stayed at this very special villa for 6 nights in September. Our host, Guido, was exceptional and we really appreciated his hospitality. We traded maple syrup for olive oil and he invited us to join an evening with his friends and family and made Prosecco/maple syrup cocktails! The property is an historic villa with loads of charm and character and it felt very calming to be here. Two of our favourite meals were in nearby restaurants ( Mandri and La Bottega Di Castagneto). The vista from the property overlooks the mountains of Tuscany and is spectacular. We had a wonderful walk/hike in the nearby Park Nazionale Delle Foreste Casentinesi. Next time we would take advantage of the nearby train into Florence. The pool view is gorgeous. Our weather was cool due to the end of September and the roads are typical mountain roads. Would love to return. "
