Lovely area. And yes one needs to take EVERYTHING, including all bathroom amenities. Hair dryer if you use one. Very small convenience store (friendly staff!).
Despite the wildfires, this was a perfect spot. I can’t say enough about the staff. I left my Apple Watch in the cabin after leaving and they were so willing to help get it back to me when they didn’t have to. We will be back.
The cabin was a nice place to stay near Cooper Harbor, MI. It is a great option to visit Isle Royale National Park if you are unable to stay on the island. Check-in is contactless. Area felt safe, but it's a bit confusing to get to in the dark. The cabin looks out to a lake for some great views. Parking is tight.
You will need to bring your own bedding, towels (swimming and the shower), coffee pods, and mugs. (The owners will contact you about these things ahead of time.)
Check in was grueling. Was told main yurt on email. This was not marked if there is one. The one I presented to that looked like a possibility looked to have store items but was locked. This was 530 in the evening.
It was difficult to find where we were staying (aqua lodge). After getting there things looked up. Clean and refreshing with the exception of the gentleman smoking weee next door (visibly)
It was a nice getaway.
Great place for a group, spa was delightful, relaxing night on the dock with plenty of chairs and a fire. Easy access, easy check in, even being fully booked we never had a problem with parking and we had 4 vehicles.
Place is beautiful. Parking is tight, our cabin had no designated spot so had to park in overflow. Lake is beautiful, deck over lake with fire pit very nice.
*We had an UPPER cabin (highly recommended-seriously!) ---Beautiful setting/beautiful views. Use of their kayaks and paddleboards is appreciated. They have a large deck/dock on the lake (Lac La Belle) with a gracious firepit (firewood provided). The set up is really nice! Your stay also includes daily use of the Nordic Spa which is 'up the road' @ Mt Bohemia. Pools. Saunas, Hot Tub, Bars and wood-fired pizza. It is not on-site. We did not mind the hike, bike or drive up there.
*Bring your own linens and towels and foods (this is not a B&B) ---the cabins have a microwave and a mini fridge. There is also a Keurig(I thoroughly cleaned out-someone had poured grinds right into it-yeah not cool but Life goes on! I AM useful and cleaned it out)--bring your fav pods and mugs. Think camping but in a log cabin !
*If you want peace and quiet--this place is not for you. It attracts a wide variety of people AND of all ages. It gets loud. Adults, teens, kids, babies(crying)... It can get rambunctious. People bend rules in their favor...We were here for a week and experienced [everything].
*An issue that warrants notation; the doors on the wooden screened-in porches ALL slam with a loud sharp bang/they are all on a tight spring--it would be nice if they had some sort of rubber bumper or? We were considerate...others were not. Quiet time here is 12 midnight to 6am. THAT says it all.
The thing is-we loved it here despite the 'issues'-we hiked-we biked-we kayaked! We love the outdoors!
The cabins are well built and beautiful, in a lovely setting. Of course, the sauna and pool complex at Mt. Bohemia is fantastic. The lack of any bedding or any kind of eating utensils is a drawback--especially in such a nice cabin. A cup or two to drink out of would be nice.
Second time staying here and we love it! The deck out back looking over the lake, the use of the spa and the kayaks really can not be beat for the cost! The wood fired pizza at the restaurant is so good too.
The upper lake side cabin was great. Very rustic feel while still having modern amenities. Two of us used the spa passes after long days of rockhounding in local mine dumps and it was amazing!! Absolutely loved the salt wall dry heat room, the rain mist tunnel, and the heated ceramic lounger room. The hot tub was nice, did not feel as crowded as it was. Overall it was a great weekend and we will absolutely stay there again.
