"The historic building is simply beautiful, very charming, and well-restored. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The service in the restaurant was very friendly but extremely slow. The food was rather mediocre. Breakfast was actually quite poor. There was barely a tablespoon of yogurt with the granola, and the toast was cold and hard like rusk. The location itself is beautiful."

"The view from our room was beautiful. Its a very short walk to the river and about a 15 minute walk to Christ Church. I would definetly stay again."

"Stayed here during the heatwave in a twin room. Fan was provided which was very much needed. We dropped our bags earlier in the daytime and were met by the host. She was very welcoming and friendly. We were given our key so we didn’t have to return later to check in. We also left our luggage there until time to go home which was much appreciated. Very decent shower and comfy beds. Excellent host"

"Second time we’ve stayed here and it’s become the preferred option for visiting friends who live nearby in Oxford. It’s recently renovated, super clean and very comfortable. It’s self checkin but lots of comms from staff and a very straightforward process. Also found staff to be very responsive when messaging to arrange a late checkout. "The rooms had forced-air air conditioning, but it was not working at all on a very hot night. The windows only open an inch or so, and while that allowed in the noise from the bar courtyard below, it did nothing to alleviate the heat. The staff did provide a fan when asked. Otherwise, I would not have been able to sleep at all. Bottom line, avoid Malmaison when the weather is hot."

"Staff were very nice but staying in the heatwave was a nightmare. The fans provided weren’t very effective (I had to ask for another one which was provided). The rooms were ok but a bit tired- but this is reflected in a reasonable price for central Oxford. I would stay there again for that reason."

"We REALLY appreciated the air conditioning, since we were there during the heatwave. The location was convenient to the train, and there is a delightful cafe staffed by adults with cognitive disabilities nearby (Yellow Submarine). The shower didn’t quite work the first night and the only person on staff was a sweet trainee who tried to fix it, but she wasn’t able to; it would have been helpful to have someone else on staff. We enjoyed our stay overall!"

"One word - avoid. What ypu see in the description and in reviews is NOT what you get. The room was facing the main road and the constant, non-stop noise was unbearable. The breakfast was horrible. £12.50 extra for 1x burnt bacon, uncooked hash brown and a pathetic looking uncooked sausage. Plus a fried egg complete with a hair.
