IF you want privacy, the smell of the woods, waking up to the birds (in a King master bedroom bed) and relaxing in the hot tub within your own forest, then we would love for you to be our guests! We are a classic cottage home NOT A tiny home on wheels, an apartment, a tent, or an RV! We are NOT ontop of a busy highway or on the pothole side of 89! Don't wake up looking at the backside of your neighboring rentals. Room to roam on 4.8 acres, yet only 1.1 mile from Downtown Mentone. Woodland views. Enjoy the deer, fox, Turkey, bear and other wildlife on the property. (recently found fox den :) Our little Irish cottage is great for a romantic retreat or bring the kids! Open the door of the little shake Cottage to find a brand new, but warm and welcoming 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage. Walk, drive or cycle 1.1 miles to downtown Mentone! This is a PRIVATE accommodation.
Children are welcomed however, please be aware that toddlers, children younger than 7 and adults with balance issues may not be able to climb the vertical ships ladder to the loft. (this is the second bedroom, main bedroom on first floor) We do provide a Regalo toddler cot for your convenience.
Amenities include a full kitchen with all full size appliances, including stove, refrigerator, built-in microwave and dishwasher! There is an eat in breakfast bar for 3 and an additional eating area for 2 more individuals (children). Off the kitchen step outside to the back porch deck which extends the length of the cottage. You first walk out to a screened area with a table and chairs for 3 season outdoor dining. Relax with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night. Outside the screen room is the full size gas grill and Hot Tub for 4. Our fire pit beckons a romantic evening, a get together with the kids or a "smores" cookout.
The focal point of the cozy living room is a stone, wood burning fireplace. (Only open mid Oct to March 1). Enjoy your favorite television show or movie while watching the fire.
Through the white barn door is the main bedroom with a huge king size bed and luxury mattress.
The connecting bathroom, accessible either from the master suite or the living room, has a beautiful antique vanity with vessel sink, toilet and shower/tub combination.
Just outside the bedroom is a custom designed ships ladder that will take you to the loft bedroom. Almost as large as the master bedroom, 165 sq feet, the loft has two extra long, new twin size beds.
Enjoy the smell of woods, the sounds of the wind, the echo of the train as you nap on the hammock at the pond of our first cottage, "Hitherside". Harmony with nature awaits for you.
*****A note about "Internet": While internet is NOT available in our part of the woods, you can use your phone as a "hotspot" if you have an adequate signal. We DO NOT accept any animals due to severe allergies of owner. This property is also SMOKE FREE. MAX occupancy is 4 people. ALL children count as part of occupancy including babies. WE REQUIRE A SIGNED RENTAL AGREEMENT/GUEST REGISTER ALONG WITH A COPY OF YOUR ID WITHIN 24 HOURS OF BOOKING. For last minute bookings (check in within a week of booking) the rental contract needs to be returned the same day.
