Cathedral of Marsala. built around 1176 by the will of the Normans. The Cathedral of Marsala was dedicated to St. Thomas Becket of Canterbury, as a result of the sinking of a boat bound for England, which carried the entire Corinthian columns and that these columns were used for the construction of the church of St. Thomas in England. The wreck happened at the beach of Marsala. The citizens thought a sign of the will of Heaven, and so those columns used it for a temple in honour of the English saint.
