"It was basic but it has everything we needed for the trip. We went to see family and celebrate my in-law birthday at the Canterburry bell last September 19th. It was a great celebration abd we are considering going back with the kids for the Christmas holidays."

"I loved my stay at The Beetroot. Michael was really helpful, and lovely to meet; he also gave me an early check-in which was great. Sam who was doing work around the car park was also really nice and really helpful. The room itself was perfect - comfortable bed, great selection of teas and I loved the decor of the bathroom. The location was perfect, too - so close walking distance to everything: restaurants, cafes, the beach, and all the tourist attractions. I only wish I could have stayed longer but I didn't have time in my itinerary. I will have to come back, would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I would highly recommend it to anyone."

"The hotel was easy to find and the free car park was good. The location is good, just a short walk in to the centre of Canterbury. Staff were helpful but the hotel is a bit 'tired'. I think some refurbishing is going on as the reception area and bar looked clean and modern but the rest had shabby carpet and worn out fittings & fixtures, e.g. our shower rail (the shower was over the bath) was very rusty. However, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was good."

"Amazing and helpful staff. The steam room is cleaner, fresher with a hose that works😀 Breakfast could be improved, with more varieties of eggs, sunny side up, poached and boiled on display. However when I asked for boiled and poached eggs, I got it done and brought to me. The scrambled eggs were not tasty. The fruits were off."

"The former home of Lord Kitchener offers large rooms and surroundings with old times charm. Room Kimberly had a specious sitting room with fridge and a smaller bedroom with loft ceiling. Didn't have a breakfast. Tried the small gym and small swimming pool, access code changes daily. The once beautiful grounds need a bit more attention . Free parking, decent price. Highly recommended"
