"Our room at The Fairmont Chateau Laurier was very disappointing. We chose a view of the Parliament Building .... if you sat in the one shabby chair in the corner, close to the window or leaned forward on the windowsill you could see it. The bathroom was so tiny that you had to almost straddle the toilet to use the wash hand basin. We are regular sized humans. The drinking glasses were stored on a shelf, at toilet bowl level, 12.5 inches from the front of the toilet bowl { yes I measured it!}. The unit holding the kettle and coffee maker had both placed at knee level: the side that had been the bar fridge had no shelves and needed a good clean imo. The sound insulation was appalling. We could hear both sides of a business conversation in the room next door { and the gentleman was using a perfectly ordinary level of speech}. On the second morning the cleaners { contract apparently} cleaning around the front door with a power washing or blower were so loud at 6.30 am that we got up and left for home. On the upside, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable."

"When we first pulled into the parking lot, I have to admit I started to worry about what I had signed up for since the lot was empty and the "office" sign was blinking. We for sure thought we were getting murdered. Honestly though? I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. The room was clean, the grounds were nice, the staff was super friendly, and the overall experience was easy breezy. If I was to give any critical feedback, it would be that the bathroom could use a dimmer switch or a nightlight, because it's way too shocking to turn the very bright overhead light on in the middle of the night, and it was way too dark to not have any lights on at all. I will also say that maybe they invest in some washable duvet covers vs. the old style metallic-thread comforter that feels like it should be removed before sleeping under it. Since there was no other duvet or anything other than the top sheet - we had to leave it on. Felt a bit gross, but I'm not precious, so we managed. "

"Stayed for a night, was a little hesitant due to the bad reviews. However, everything was perfect. Rooms were clean, modernized and spacious. Our room had a whole kitchen with everything you would need including a full size fridge. We stopped by early to see if we could park the vehicle on the available onsite parking and we were informed our room was ready and we could check in about 3 hours earlier than expected. Close to everything, including grocery store, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Would definitely stay again! Downside: Underground parking is limited"
