Slovenia is full of remarkable places to visit. A few hours northeast of Ljubljana, the capital, lies a region of alpine valleys that will take your breath away. I took this photo shortly after sunrise on the ridge between two of those valleys.

Having your own set of wheels certainly makes getting around this area a lot easier. For accommodation I'd recommend Luce, a small town a stone's throw away from the action, where there are a few options.

The trails can be hard to locate and very slippery when covered with snow so tread carefully or, preferably, wait until it disappears.

"Am Anfang festgestellte Probleme wurden vom Vermieter schnell und professionell behoben - wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Kontakt mit Hr. S. Das Häuschen hat zwar eine enge Küche, aber es sind alle wünschbaren Geräte vorhanden. Leider haben die Temperaturen überraschend schnell umgeschlagen, sodass wir den Sitzplatz wenig geniessen konnten. Bei kalten Tagen kann mit Elektroheizungen geheizt werden. Man muss aber beachten, dass in der Nachsaison um den See herum nicht mehr viel läuft."

We stayed in Farmhouse Raspberry and everyone absolutely loved it! What a beautiful view everyday of the surrounding mountains and a real surprise and treat to have access to a swimming pool. "Blue Cottage is gelegen op één van de mooiste plekken in Slovenië! Het comfort is basic, maar de sfeer van het huis is onovertroffen. En gastvrouw Mojca is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam."

"It was very clean, and in a good location. Just a 13min walk from the old town and bus station, with cheap fare to the surrounding areas. A good option to save a few bucks when visiting lake bled. Radovljica is very cute and picturesque with lots of option for food and drink. "
